Alternative headline: "Antivaxxer Continues To Talk Shit"

Simple answer is to stop going to either those subs, or Reddit as a whole.

True, but let's not forget that Lemmy instances are hosted by ordinary people without the finances to employ high price legal teams. If they receive a threatening letter from (for example) Sony or Disney they still have to either acquiesce or find a lot of money very quickly to simply argue their case.

Deciding to trust a provider - any provider - isn't just any one thing. So, the most basic step to me is all the relevant code being open source. The next step is getting their infrastructure audited. The step after that is seeing what happens if they get court ordered to provide data.

They do none of that and I'm just too cynical to accept 'trust me bro' as a convincing sales tactic.

How is this surreal? Journalists critical of Musk/Twitter have been being banned since he bought it.

Is this journalist really so self involved he thought it was OK they all got nuked as long as he didn't?

Climate change is not something any one country can mitigate. It's going to take all of us - the world.

Grant Shapps, the guy who got caught editing his own Wikipedia entry? That guy? They guy who repeatedly denied having a second job whilst a minister but it turned out he did, under an alias, touting a get rich quick scam? The guy who in 2018 said he voted Remain but then last year said he'd voted Leave? That Grant Shapps?

A recent PG forum thread is discussing it. PG deemed it not secure enough almost three years ago, based on solid reasoning.

However, that was three years ago and the product has altered dramatically. I just don't think it's been resuggested/evaluated since then.

PG forum users (and PG itself) are pretty inconsistent with how they judge stuff. Not trusting one company (Filen) because there were issues three years ago (and are now, as I understand it, fully addressed) but totally trusting another company (Brave browser) despite repeated actions that erode trust is odd behaviour.

I'm a filen user myself, just in the interests of full disclosure.

Until a reliable, independent news agency verifies it, any claim from either side should be viewed as misleading. It's also worth noting that it's not just Hamas denying this, it's also the facility itself. Here's part of a report from one of the BBC correspondents in Gaza:

"Israel has accused Hamas of having a command and control centre underneath Shifa - which the group denies.

I have been to the hospital hundreds of time - I was born there, my son was born there, in the last two months of my mum's life, she was inside the kidney dialysis centre and I used to visit her every day.

It is very hard to verify what is underneath. With my eyes, I haven't seen any military capability inside the hospital buildings."

~~Lastly, consider the fact that this hospital is in one of the places the IDF instructed Palestinians to flee to . Are we now saying that the IDF were purposefully trying to place Palestinians in danger by telling them to go to a location where they knew Hamas operated from?~~

Source, time logged 08:14

EDIT: I was referring to the wrong hospital - see my comment below for details.

Depends on the reason for me. I totally get why .world blocked those 3 communities (not a defed I know but still) given the possible legal issues and given the admin isn't a lawyer and can't afford to retain a high powered legal team. Blocking those communities until they have a legal opinion just seems like good sense to me.

The hexbear thing - they're evangelical totalitarians politically. They believe what they believe and everything they talk about revolves around that and they need you to hear it, again and again and again. It's just mentally exhausting dealing with them, especially when a large part of their freely admitted m.o. is brigading/dog-piling.

Being fedded with lemmynsfw didn't bother me, I hardly ever saw anything from it as I rarely feel the need to go on 'All'. I understand there were some anime jailbait issues? That's probably a pretty good reason to defed from an instance.

So, and this is admittedly all from my perspective, I haven't seen any overbearing uses of defedding.

And I think people need to realise defedding is not like banning. On reddit if a sub got banned it was gone. On Lemmy if one instance defeds from another, the other instance is still there. You still have the choice to view it.
