I ripped the bandaid off a month or so ago. Went with LMDE. Haven't looked back. Steam runs all my games through Proton just as good as they ran on Windows, if not better.

Tagging OP @moe90@feddit.nl until they quit being a lazy bitch and actually fix their title.

@moe90@feddit.nl clearly doesn't give a shit. They're a serial poster.

automatically select audio devices (because it has to use its own selection of audio devices)

Dude, this so fucking hard. It doesn't even respect the system volume on my Windows 11 work laptop; despite being set at like 30%, my eardrums always get blasted at the start of the meeting. Every single time, I have to go into the volume settings and turn down the individual application (which has TWO volume controls for...reasons?), because apparently per-app volume is higher priority than system volume for reasons I have yet to find an answer to.

I want the old Volume Mixer back. At least that worked as any reasonable person would expect.

I don't think anybody expected that. This is just a shitty headline.

I have a Brother MFC-9340CDW that I salvaged from work last year; we replaced it because it kept getting a ghost "paper jam" every time you tried to print something. Turns out the cause is an $18 board that's known to fail. Scanner still works fine though, strangely.

I also have a Kyocera FS-3900DN b&w laser printer from 2006...or somewhere around there. It does the thing, and can even be managed with a CUPS server since it has 10/100 networking.

Now to figure out how to disable automatic firmware updates on the Brother 🤔

Hard no. Extremely hard no. This is the kind of crap our parents would make and serve.

For anyone with taste buds, let's be abundantly clear on something: steaming vegetables is perhaps the WORST way to cook them.

I'm sorry your parents were terrible cooks. Steamed veggies can be very delicious what done right, and it's not that difficult to do.

NGL, that helped me actually understand the original function. It's been over a decade since I've touched anything related to C.

Yeah, but unfortunately the 2A folks are itching for trump to declare open season on LGBTQ+ and minorities.

The law cares, but it's hardly enforced.

only a Nazi goes out of their way to put an 88 in their username

Yeah, I'm gonna need a citation for that. I was born in 1988.
