Imagine somebody dangling a cookie in front of your face, but refuses to give it to you unless you complete a set of certain unrelated and difficult tasks, despite you offering to just pay to take the cookie. Yet the cookie is still being dangled in your face.
This is that problem.
I would like meaningful regulation on advertising. Something to the effect of "STOP BLASTING MY FACE WITH ADS EVERY CHANCE YOU GET YOU SCUMFUCKERS"
There is a gas station nearby who runs non-stop unmutable (there is no mute button) ads. I don't go to that gas station anymore.

Geocaching isn't limited to a single app... Go find a geocaching website and punch the coords into whatever mapping app you use.
TBF, having to wait a bit isn't the end of the world. That said, it shouldn't be locked down at all.

My 1980 Honda XR500 is an absolute workhorse of a machine. Almost 47 years old (built 08/1979) and still effortlessly pulls wheelies on command. Very little wiring, and most of it is for the lighting to make it street legal.
My teenage daughters say "bruh" pretty often.
Linux has been doing this for decades via APT and other software managers. Not locked down, either.
