Every day the reckoning will be worse than it would have been the day before. That's why it should be planned and not A) ripped off like a bandaid or B) have it fail on its own.

Right now the government is doing practically the opposite and reassuring and strengthening the bandaid despite the inevitable need for it to come off.

I get it. I'm also on board with UBI. Hell, I'm even a vegan that isn't calling for an immediate end to all subsidies for the ag industry even though a vast majority of it is in support of a practice that I believe to be highly unethical and horrendous. But I get that it can't change overnight, but that doesn't mean to keep kicking the can down the road either.

The human cost then will be more than the human cost now. It just will be "future" humans instead of the current ones so they so keep supporting it and making it someone else's problem.

I'd argue one shouldn't even be messing with dual booting if they don't understand much about the bootloader.

Recruitment is low, but a large reason for that is their standards are kind of high relative to our youth. Less than 1 in 4 aged 17-24 are expected to be able to qualify.

Visible tattoos? Sorry. ADHD medication in the past six months? Need a waiver. Test positive for weed? Sorry. Not many can even pass the fitness tests anymore.

That being said, recruitment isn't the only measure for a strong military. You could very well be correct in your conclusion, but I wouldn't base it solely on that.

Most politicians are capitalists. Most citizenry are just resources. It's why we need more politicians worth under a million like AOC and the like. That's why the progressive "extremists" seem so out of place with the established politicians (even Democrats). Our entire economy is based on something far removed from the actual citizenry. But US Americans keep saying they want "moderates" for some reason.

Where does this "everyone hates Biden" come from? I'm truly curious what thought process is there. Is he my favorite president? No. Do I hate him? Also no.

I mean, regardless of whether it sounds like afterthoughts, it kind of sounds like the ulterior motive for Brave is entirely counter to its purported intent. Why ignore it just because of something unrelated? Sounds like the exact same issue people complain about the author.

Nah. The risk greatly outweighs the reward. Even if this hits the news, I doubt it'd affect numbers on here that much, especially since it's not that big. It's not even big enough to cause issues for "competitors" (and I use the term lightly). The fediverse is simply not really ready to compete with established actors. So the "benefit" is quite small. The risk if they're caught includes executives getting jail time and likely irreversible harm to their brand.

Because they're not trying to make a big deal about how easily CSAM spread throughout federated instances making all hosts possibly legally liable. Instances in the US are probably ok, due to various laws like safe harbor for platform providers but with instances all over the world, they all have their own laws to contend with and many never expected this

Isn't the official repo for Lemmy on GitHub?

Sweet Jesus.

Yes, apparently it does taste very sweet.

I'll see myself out.

Well, it's a carry over from its early days in how it used to work. You needed to install things via USB debugger. Generally that's all sideloading ever meant, transferring information from one device to another using a generally "local" method (SD card, USB, etc). Now sideloading, on Android at least (as it retains its original meaning elsewhere), just means not from the official repository.

It's extremely possible. I came across her plan in researching running. She's popular. Not all runners publish stuff. She's one of the few names in running I recognize but I couldn't for the life of me even describe what she looks like let alone recognize her on my own.

And why is this rage bait? Who is angry? It's humorous. Why do you assume folks are supposed to be angry reading this?
