I LOVE that idea! One of our resident cats is a pain to give meds to so I'll give it a try!

And yes, Bo is half (or so) Bengal. He came to us completely feral but needed those meds so he didn't go the TNR route. He's turned into a super friendly guy who craves getting pets - just took a bit to get there. He's also basically vocal chords on four legs - sings all day long.

If anyone is interested in adopting, he's listed with MEOW in Calgary, Canada!

Oof... Not a good look for Canadian soccer. An analyst specifically stating that they were unwilling to spy because they were being pressured to do so...

How did I not think of that?

She's discovered that she can get 'mom time' by jumping up on the desk we have in the room because oh man, do they never let her rest otherwise.

Totally agree.

Moderating models for safety is a problematic idea. Prusa then bears liability in the event that a model fails. 3D printing works only because it's the person who physically makes the print who has the ultimate responsibility to determine if it is safe and fit for purpose.

If you don't like the competitions, don't take part. Personally I view them as a nice way to encourage the community to share ideas.

Cheap powdercoating is one of my favourite things about steel frames. I can get a frame sand blasted and powdercoated for $150CAD. I ride my bike until the paint is damaged and I'm starting to get a bit of rust in spots- then pick a wild new colour, get some decals made and just like that I have a brand new looking bike.

Fildebrandt is the gift that keeps on giving. Every time I start to forget he exists, something absurd like this rears its head...

[-] potate@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 months ago

Yea, but that's the slippery line between factual reporting and rhetoric laced opinion. I agree 100% that the RCMP basically saying 'no' to direction from their minister is absurd - but that's my opinion.

I thought the article did a good job of laying out the points but then letting the reader draw their own conclusions.

How the hell is this still happening? I'm particularly frustrated that the Crown Prosecutor appears to be covering up rather than going after the police for flagrantly illegal practices.

So three months late in meeting their own deadline, the RCMP has issued a statement saying that they are aware that historically they haven't actually addressed similar recommendations, but this time it's totally going to be different but seemingly doesn't articulate what they are actually doing?

I'm willing to assume that this article (which is just a wire service piece) may not have delved adequately into the report itself, so I'm going to see if I can get my hands on it, but I think the RCMP needs to be significantly more candid and transparent.

Okay, I dug up the report, it's accessible on the RCMP website. . It's basically fluff - there's lots of talk of addressing culture and planning without much in terms of specifics. There's references to actions to be completed by the end of 2023 without actually explaining if it was successfully completed. I remain skeptical.

I think some people use a vacuum chamber and epoxy to stabilize the wood. I also wonder if soaking the biscuits in a mineral oil bath for a few days might do the trick? Personally I've never had much luck with larger pieces.
