i don’t think that’s really true… australia is hugely spread out and we have pretty great mass transit

not to mention apparently there have been recent studies that predict the deorbiting of all the satellites is going to have drastic climate effects

why do you think mandatory military service isn’t a good idea?

why are you judging peoples countries based on your view that governments shouldn’t force people to do things?

in fact you’re judging peoples’ lived experience and opinions based entirely on your own narrow views of government

mandatory military service might mean fewer wars if people understood better what that meant

my government (australia) is, all in all, a good thing - them telling people in this country to do things is, again all in all, a good thing. we live in a society, and the world has different people with different opinions and different ways of viewing the world and doing things

am i privileged to have a government that i can trust? sure! no denying that… but mistrust of the government is not a reason to write off the entire concept of societal mandates

yknow what else is good? taxes, fire services, disaster response, and dare i say - public healthcare and ambulances… all things im mandated to pay for along with everyone around me in case we ever need them

if a govt seizes a device and discovers channel IDs to be taken down, i’m sure than signal would do so - there have been no arrest warrants, after all… however, the problem is also significantly smaller for signal because signal can’t have enormous broadcast groups

it’s kinda irrelevant what it is - you have to comply with police orders to moderate your platform… if this were musk and x lemmy would be cheering on the arrest! no matter who you are, you ~~don’t~~ shouldn’t get to just break the law

and you’re right CSAM is frequently used as an excuse, and no i don’t have evidence - that would require actually looking for said content, which i have no inclination to do. the only information i have is that multiple independent news outlets have referenced telegram for years - not proof, but a more convincing argument than simply denial - because let’s not kid ourselves, unless you’ve gone looking for that content, you’ve got no proof against it either (and even if you didn’t find it, that’s no guarantee either - it’s unlikely easy to find)

breakable for the NSA doesn’t mean the police have access

also the current issue is with moderation: telegram is refusing to take down CSAM channels etc

that’s literally what this is about

this is not normal dog behaviour

i’m not saying you’d like another dog any more - it sounds like you’ve made up your mind and i’m not trying to change it… but… unless you go like 18hr without taking a healthy, reasonably trained dog out, its going to avoid shitting inside… they take “don’t shit where you eat” quite instinctually

that’s SO wrong… in australia our doctors and surgeons FREQEUENTLY tell us to take both ibuprofen and paracetamol (which is what most of the world calls acetaminophen) together

perhaps you’re thinking of taking and

ie do not take tylenol and paracetamol/acetaminophen, since they’re the same and you’re double dosing

to add:

too much paracetamol/acetaminophen causes liver damage

too much ibuprofen effects your stomach, intestines, and kidneys

their overdose effects are different

i understand that of course, but the EU can, for example, force products that are sold in the EU to have no developer restrictions that are not compliant with EU law

… just like it can (try) to regulate the sale of of things like conflict diamonds

remember that your searches for yourself feed them data too
