Most package managers store md5sums. A few times I've used that to validate package binaries. I'm not sure what tool you'd use for it, since I always just whip up a bash one-liner for it.

This happened during our visit to Victoria (BC). There's a cat marked on Google Maps near the Transcanada Mile Zero marker. Wasn't there, unfortunately.

Yeah, though aluminum also has the advantage of being orders of magnitude lighter, so you save a lot on fuel for shipping at every stage of the process. Plus a glass bottle can only be used as a bottle: recycled aluminum is more flexible.

So it could easily tilt in favour of aluminum I think. BUt you're right that it's not clear-cut.

Starship is an amazing chunk of engineering that really does have a shot at revolutionizing launch economics. Musk is an ass but SpaceX is doing some incredible work. Just getting off the pad with that thing was a win and returned a lot of valuable test data.
