A co-op shooter set in the Control/Alan Wake universe... Seems neat.

That's called an intranet (which is like the internet but for a building or small area).

The internet isn't really anything more than computers connected to other computers. If you want to make your own internet you can connect two computers whether wired or wireless, and voila. You can host a website locally that only those two computers can access.

Something to note is that it's not just the DLC, the patch that released alongside it introduced a slew of bugs to everyone who owns the game. Apparently this includes framerate now affecting things like movement speeds, enemies sometimes dealing insane bursts of damage randomly, invisible enemy projectiles, among other gameplay breaking stuff. Total disaster.

Sigh... I guess we saw it coming with Gearbox...

They tried. It was called UWP, but it never caught on and Microsoft quickly realized nobody wanted to use their store or even bother with the new format, so all their games also have a normal x86 version.

If this thing needs to be present, the option should be there to toggle on, not off.

This is my takeaway in general. The idea of this sounds fine, but the fact that they opted everyone into this experiment is really stupid considering a huge chunk of people use Firefox are privacy-conscious and care deeply about this stuff.

AI was a promise more than anything. When ChatGPT came out, all the AI companies and startups promised exponential improvements that will chaaangeee the woooooorrlllddd

Two years later it's becoming insanely clear they hit a wall and there isn't going to be much change unless someone makes a miraculous discovery. All of that money was dumped in to just make bigger models that are 0.1% better than the last one. I'm honestly surprised the bubble hasn't popped yet, it's obvious we're going nowhere with this.

I hate Nintendo's practices as much as anyone else, but honestly, play stupid games and win stupid prizes. If you sell modded consoles with pirated games on them without even trying to be anonymous, of course they're going to sue you and win.

For the record this was made 8 years ago and is pretty out of date.

There's a 99% chance it'll be one of those fake emulation consoles with 5000 pirated roms loaded into it

That was fast. Wasn't this one of the main selling points of Windows 11?

I know it's dumb but I was always a bit disappointed that Microsoft overhauled Paint in Windows 11 with layers and polish. To me, paint is always that terrible pre-packaged program that makes bad art. There was a community around making things in paint, which was noticeably impressive because making decent art in paint is a nightmare.

Now that it's actually fairly good... I don't know, it's lost its charm.

Oh boy here we go again

Distrochooser is not a good resource for newbies IMO. There are too many questions, many of which are misleading or hard to understand (NOBODY taking this knows what systemd is)

Many answers are misleasing: "I want a distro that is supported by game publishers" for example implies each distro has its own game compatibility, this is NOT the case.

And when you're finally done it recommends too many distros, many of which are irrelevant, niche, or flat out not recommended anymore (PCLinuxOS?!?!)

When someone asks for a distro, please just run a random number generator to choose between ZorinOS, PopOS, or Linux Mint. If someone is only gaming, maybe include Nobara too.

I do occasionally make review threads like that one. They're easy to do and aren't done by hand actually, anyone can grab the template from OpenCritic.

  1. Go to OpenCritic and find the game you want

  2. Under "Share This Game", click the rightmost button (Export)

  3. Choose the "Reddit" export (it's actually just markdown so it can be used anywhere)

And there you go, it'll give you a template full of reviews you can copy and paste to make your own thread. Now it's mostly a matter of cleaning up the formatting a bit and maybe removing some lesser known reviews in case there are too many (like 20+ of them)
