It’s also useful way to start from scratch after you mess up the OS by uninstalling core dependencies by mistake. It’s for tinkerers and those who have the time and energy to try different OS configurations.

Nvidia cards are not great on Linux. I’d recommend “upgrading” to something more recent from amd. The 5000rx and 6000rx series pricing is going to nosedive soon if it hasn’t yet because of the announcement of driver end of life. You can pick up something for 50-100 bucks that would be miles better than what you have.

The Xenoblade Chronicles franchise. XC2 in particular is amazing, fantastic soundtrack, combat fits your requirements.

Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana is also a solid one for the switch that could scratch the itch you mention.

Btw, the term you seem to be looking for is action jrpg.

Run Bazzite. The desktop version. It’ll give you a plug and play experience for gaming, emulation, and streaming.

Unsure about development though. Maybe other users can chime in on Bazzite’s limitations for godot development, if any.

Darkest Dungeon 1 should be right up your alley. As well as the already recommended Loop Hero.
