But they are useful and completely valid ways of dealing with the problem.

It is not the end of the world if I have to click am extra once or twice to change the language. Hell most websites have much harder processes just to reject cookies.

Personally I would rather err on the side of slightly extra work the odd time I'm not on a website not in my native language than have an extra bit of information that can be used to track me.

Again take a look at the Gemini protocol, its a perfectly fine browsing experience without all the cruft.

Should be called intensely_inhumane 🤣

School shouldn't be like prison and neither should prison tbh.

Prison is designed as a punishment, its pretty problematic to want children to go through a similar system in their formative years, nevermimd that there is so much evidence that prison doesn't even work and just causes worse outcomes.

Treat someone like a criminal they will act like a criminal.

Unless you want to do crazy gerrymandering then democracies are as a rule ran by a majority

South Africa is a representative state dude

[-] spiderplant@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

So you're for a 1 state solution with equal rights and a government ran by the majority like south Africa?

It's like there's a historically sound reason for that or something...the events didn't even happen that long ago.

Its like there's a historical correlation for large armies and fascist states.

But to counter your point, Taiwan keeps on shrinking their army and even dropped conscription despite the even bigger threat of China. They know the US will bail them out just like they would Israel in an all out war. Even looking at all the defending forces in Palestinian or defensive based armies around the world you don't need a large or extremely well equipped army unless you are looking to invade am area.

Yes, because of the aforementioned large military. And maybe they haven't lost someone in the particular fight (although it's a rather asshole thing to even mention) this is not the first time Israel and other Jews have suffered casualties from surprise attacks.

Every surviving family or friend of someone killed is another person given reason to pick up weapons and fight. Every person who is under threat of starvation, physical violence and death is a person justified in their right to defend themselves. When there is a 36x difference in deaths and one side facing such brutality and oppression, the other side has no right to claim victim.

You say that like it's an indicator that they're doing alright. How many people in your area feel the need to have fortified bunkers in in their homes to prevent them from being murdered by people living a few miles away? And how many of those people actually had to use those bunkers in the last month (like many Israelis just did)?

When one side has the psychological and physical safety of a bunker in their home and the other has to face the bombs without any protection it absolutely is an indicator that they are doing alright.

The US aren't hypocrites when they support fascist states its what they've always done unless public support hasn't let them.

Hamas isn't Palestine. I expect when the people rise up together they will win. There are way more organisations than Hama's currently in this fight btw.

Last I've seen is that the Palestinian offensive is 10 km away from splitting Israel in two. We'll see what the situation is when the dust settles.

For the moment I will continue to uncritically support the Palestinian struggle and call out those that don't because they support genocide as the status quo.

Even if they only hit military targets they would still be labeled as terrorists. You need a different word that hasn't been massively overused.

If the support is conditional its not really support.

Did you even do any research before you came up with this bulshit liberal stance? The Gaza Strip a neutral zone? That's like saying Israel needs to become a neutral zone.

Apologies if I ended up just listing things you already knew. I think your reply annoyed me as your conclusion that we will know even better 20 years from now while correct can be used as an excuse to wait till we know better. If I have to wait 20 or more years to get pedestrian/bike first infrastructure where i live, when there's plenty of examples of it working elsewhere I'll be fuming.

My issue was with using econ101 as part of an argument, I'm sure you've heard of the saying about economics is that you spend most of the course learning why econ101 doesn't actually work when applied to most real world scenarios.
