We could have it both, where big instances like LemmyWorld or BeeHaw becomes the well known public interface, while they maintain federation with smaller instances.

I just checked i2p website and it looks like they launched a bundled distribution easy to install just like torbrowser. Hope it catches on and more filesharing moves to i2p.

And the potential legal troubles. I don't exactly know how Lemmy's federation works but if a rogue instance hosted CP/CSAM for the lulz and OP's instance copied the contents for the freedom...

Problem is the damage what this unstable person can do. She's distributing binaries that are executed on windows PC with security measures disabled on purpose. If she went rogue and started inserting malware or cryotominers, tons of people would be affected.

It became the largest instance and the one to absorb most of the attention-seekers that expect to be treated as "customers", despite the instance admin (of lemmy.world) emphasizing they're all volunteers working for the community.
