Not because I've had any kind of bad experience with users on this instance, but I don't care for the posts on lemmy.blahaj.zone. I honestly just got tired of seeing the "Rule" posts; it's like 90% of their posts!

I think there's a pretty big overlap of gamers and programmers who use Windows or WSL because they don't want to have to dual boot.

I just clean installed Sway. The last time I tried a rebase from Kinoite to Bazzite it left me with a weird set of flatpaks and removed Firefox somehow. Probably wasn't a big deal but it was easy enough to start fresh.

And yeah Nix store can live in /var. That's where it ended up when I used the nix-installer provided by Determinate Systems.

Hmm what you say about the ostree tooling is unfortunate. I was hoping to make my own image at some point. What specifically is overly complex?

And how has this penalty incentivised any change in behavior? I assume the money will come from the school district, which is earmarked from local and federal taxes. So now there's less money to pay for schools. In practice the school board may do as they wish with less funding until they are not reelected. Do you think they will be firing or docking pay of the people who are actually to blame?

If I tried this again today I would ~~perish~~ need to be rescued

But with discipline and training, this climb is very achievable! You don't need to be a technical climber for this one.

OP, thanks for asking. I feel seen.

  1. Using the past tense instead of the subjunctive mood. "What if she was gone?" Nope. It should be "what if she were gone." People (in the US) seem to get this wrong most of the time, except for a few common phrases like "If I were you, ...".
  2. The words "whilst," "amongst," and "amidst." I get that there is a certain history to these words, but I personally never use them as they seem like meaningless alterations. When I hear them, I roll my eyes, but I try not to judge too quickly.
  3. "Irregardless". It's not a word.
  4. "Could care less". An oldie but a goodie?
  5. Overuse of commas. I don't like seeing them as strictly a way to introduce a pause in speech. Commas have specific grammatical purposes, and using them without such a purpose breaks my expectations as a reader.
  6. Confusing "nauseous" and "nauseated".

All things in moderation. Hard work is a virtue, but it's good to recognize when it's not paying off for you.

I mostly meant like, if you really wanted, you could have an LLM generate responses for most day to day conversations. This feature already exists for text and email.

You don't need to restart your LSP to switch to a new branch. You also don't need an LSP to find the types.

Even with all of these issues aside, I can't think of the last time I was reviewing a PR where it wasn't clear from context what the types were, or they were irrelevant.

Some forms of it are illegal, but it's hard to define what exactly constitutes Gerrymandering. Rather than enumerating all of the ways the Gerrymandering is possible, we really just need to make it so only one specific policy for forming districts is used. I think mathematicians have been proposing models for this that attempt to create districts with roughly uniform distribution of population and isotropic borders.

Pays to know how to recover code from the reflog in these cases.

All of my top picks have been mentioned, but I have a few more that stand out from recent memory.

Hijack (Apple TV+) was one of my favorite thrillers, perfectly wrapped up in one season. Multiple jaw-dropping moments. Very hard to put down.

Perry Mason (HBO) is an enigmatic murder mystery that will keep you guessing. Characters are written with depth. Feels realistic for the time period.

Watchmen (HBO) is a faithful continuation of the comic book that, like the book, uses superheros to explore ethical and social issues instead of drawing clean lines between good and evil. Also responsible for teaching many Americans about the Tulsa Massacre.
