With all the DMA stuff going around I hope the EU take some real steps to Linux and FOSS in general. I mean come on, I can be root by design and fuckup my system if I want to - this is real freedom, gentlemen 🇪🇺

Seeing that those surveys exist does not really motivate me to ever visit the US besides the big cities. I literally have most of these in 15 to 30 minutes by foot or public transport. Wow.

RedHat CoreOS derives from Fedora which is the underlying OS of OpenShift - so this is really interesting because it is not like in the old days „this is a problem for future me when RHEL 15 drops in 10 years“. They are quite pushing hard with CoreOS, at least in OKD which uses Fedora CoreOS.

Oh well - why should one integrate this in a browser lol? Jesus sometimes I regret sharing something I think is good at first glance - but well I think I will then go back to librewolf

No daemon needed, better security because of rootless approach, but well docker also runs rootless nowadays. Podman came up from frustration from Red Hat over docker, that’s why they developed their own thing. Afaik it is nearly full compatible and can be used as a drop in replacement for docker.

I stopped worrying after the hamas terrorists attack in Israel. Not because I don’t care and think this is horrible and all people should live in peace. But because it is too much information I can handle. All the media is full of wars and crisis but I don’t think there are more or less crisis then 20 years ago for example. The thing is we are so exposed with social media and news websites and stuff. I can’t even surf YouTube without getting actual news about what’s going on. Sometimes I just want to watch dumb or nerdy stuff or read some which is not related to bad things. Some say this is selfish or ignorant - well I still get enough news from the wars in Ukraine and Gaza - I just stopped reading and watching all the stuff I stumble across. I cannot even change much on the situation so it is kinda human to get used to stuff like that. I cannot even Imagine what it was like to live during the Cold War with permanent threat of getting nuked and stuff.

I don’t see a real „versus“ here. Wayland will definitely become the standard display server for Linux distributions. This is not sysV init vs systemd or something else. As pointed out by lots of ppl here X11 is old and insecure because it is from another time and does not fit into modern systems and requirements, thus it is way easier to start new and fresh instead of working around for any feature needed and maintain such a old code base. The only downside for me personally is that Wayland does not support always on top windows automatically. So either right click the window or use plugins for videos from Firefox for example. AFAIK this is also for security reasons. I run Wayland on my main machine for years now, no problems at all. If I got the choice I would always go for Wayland. Even Cinnamon has experimental Wayland support now and hopefully will make the switch soon.

AKAI MPC standalones running some kind of Linux flavor https://niklasnisbeth.gitlab.io/mpc-internals/

Too bad they won’t release their DAW software for Linux desktops.
