Stremio is not FOSS (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Do you guys not have a problem with Stremio not being completely open source? It seems like it is proprietary, yet I would argue that it is currently the best way to stream movies and tv shows if you know which add-ons to use.

What part of it isn't FOSS? Isn't the source available on github?

I would be much more concerned with the sources users attach to it, such as real debrid, then I am with Stremio. Not that I would connect any sort of PII to either.

Note that "source available on github" doesn't necessarily mean it's free software. You have to look at the license to make sure.

That said I believe Stremio's repos are licensed freely (the web app looks like it's GPLv2), but as OP noted their application(s) are proprietary.

The actual desktop application isn't FOSS. The Web UI is though
