There was an attempted mass shooting in Michigan this weekend. I just found out it was entirely prevented because they cased the guy in the parking lot and someone ran him over with an F-150. Hell yea truck guy.

Here's a 2023 article from OPB about a lawsuit from Reinoehl's family against police, it gives a pretty good overview, mostly about the killing of Reinoehl but it describes some details of the original shooting of the right winger. The lawsuit was later dismissed.

Estate of Portland anti-fascist shot by fugitive task force in 2020 sues law enforcement, government agencies

Oleole fired six rounds through his vehicle’s windshield at Reinoehl. Witnesses said the vehicles had no emergency lights on. The complaint says the witnesses thought they were caught in a road rage incident or gang shooting. Reinoehl, who believed his home had recently been shot at by far-right extremists, had no way of knowing who was firing at him on the street, the lawsuit claims.

One witness described the officers to OPB as “buff white men dressed in khakis and ballistic vests and armed with rifles,” and said they looked more like right-wing militia than law enforcement officers.

This "arrest" was just soon after Trump had called him out specifically, and afterwards called it 'retribution' and commended the job done by the marshalls. Reinoehl had a mixed history apparently but from what I saw at the time seemed justified in the shooting of Danielson, the right wing Patriot Prayer member. I can't recall all the details specifically, most articles I can find at the moment only really describe the police statements or have the typical police bias.

Another incident was the Normandale Park shooting(Wikipedia Link) in Portland

On February 19, 2022, Benjamin Jeffrey Smith approached and assaulted a small group of protesters, at the edge of Normandale Park in Portland, Oregon, United States.[2] He murdered one, caused the paralysis of another (who later died of complications resulting from the attack) from the shoulders down, and seriously injured three others, including a bystander who had approached to deescalate.

People attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Smith pulled a handgun and fired at close range into a crowd of safety volunteers and struck five. An armed protester[14] fired back and struck Smith near his hip

The armed protester was initially arrested but the charges were dropped soon after.

It must be noted that in January of 2025 (almost three years after the shooting) Portland police chief Bob Day issued a formal apology for publishing inaccurate information about the incident. Day's apology had three main points: he is sorry for the police bureau initially saying the shooter was a homeowner when he was not, for falsely claiming the victims were armed protestors when they were unarmed traffic safety volunteers, and for not clarifying the shooting was an unprovoked attack on an innocent group.

If you or anyone wants more details on the killing of Reinoehl, this Vice article is pretty indepth, with documents from the police about the planning and other parts of the investigation

Docs Reveal Chaotic Planning, Execution of Raid That Killed Portland Antifa Shooter

The documents—principally an investigative report by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, which was not involved in the killing—show that police were primed, in a briefing given immediately before attempting to apprehend Reinoehl, to believe that they should expect violence from him. (They were specifically told that he said “he would not be taken alive.”) The documents also show that police fired roughly 40 rounds into his car, a police vehicle, and a nearby apartment unit occupied by children. In the aftermath of the killing, investigators focused on a single handgun shell found inside Reinoehl’s car as potential evidence that he fired at police, but no police accounts in the documents obtained by Motherboard indicate that Reinoehl fired any shots, and an official report produced on the killing could not determine when that shell was fired.
