Image is of the damage caused by an Iranian Kheibar Shekan ballistic missile in Israel, causing dozens of injuries.

Now in our second week of the conflict, we have seen continuing damage to both Israel and Iran, as well as direct US intervention which nonetheless seems to have caused limited damage to Fordow and little damage to Iran's nuclear program. Regime change seems more elusive than ever, as even Iranians previously critical of the government now rally around it as they are attacked by two rabid imperialists at once. And Iran's government is tentatively considering a withdrawal, or at minimum a reconsideration, of their membership to the IAEA and the NPT. And, of course, the Strait of Hormuz is still a tool in their arsenal.

A day or so on from the strike on Fordow, we have so far seen basically no change in strategy from the Iranian military as they continue to strike Israel with small barrages of missiles. Military analysts argue furiously - is this a deliberate strategy of steady attrition on Israel, or indicative of immense material constraints on Iran? Are the hits by Israel on real targets, or are they decoys? Does Iran wish to develop a nuke, or are they still hesitating? Will Iran and Yemen strike at US warships and bases in response to the attack, or will they merely continue striking only Israel?

And perhaps most importantly - will this conflict end diplomatically due to a lack of appetite for an extended war (to wit: not a peace but a 20 year armistice) or with Israel forced into major concessions including an end to their genocide? Or even with a total military/societal collapse of either side?

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

Those 2 planes targeted by Palestine Action that resulted in Starmer giving the org the terrorism label? They weren't even RAF owned. They are owned by a hedge fund that leases them to the british military.

Our military planes have landlords for fuck sake

The RAF had its flight training privatized, leading to what I think is fair to say is a total collapse of training capability.

The NAO investigation into the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) contract, which is let to a consortium backed in part by US arms multinational Lockheed Martin, thundered that the RAF was short of 330 pilots, while almost half of students entering the UKMFTS system last year failed to complete their intermediate training.

"In its worst year (2018-19), 49 students completed Phase 2, an 86 per cent shortfall against the [Ministry of Defence's] current aircrew requirements. In its best year (2015-16), 182 students completed Phase 2, a 21 per cent shortfall," said the NAO in its latest report.

Damningly, RAF fast jet pilots, the two-winged master race* who fly the service's Typhoon and F-35 fighters, were taking more than seven years to get from joining the Air Force to being declared ready for frontline duties.

Jesus, we don't even have enough pilots for our airforce that Keith wants to expand with a strategic nuclear force? Lmao.

What shocks me more, though, is that despite this total failure of training capability, the RAF still insisted (against considerable political pressure and protest) that they also trained Saudi pilots for service over Yemen. AnsarAllah has much to thank for the RAF's role in feeding them easy interceptions.

I think they may have even wanted to train Ukrainians on F-16s. We certainly train some of the Ukrainian forces.

Lmfao Western militaries are a joke, next you'll tell me they're actually renting their bullets and have to pay a premium for every one they fire

[-] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 11 points 15 hours ago

I've already suggested that NATO militaries could lease factories and charge themselves 3% GDP on a single bullet to get them up to 5%, then just refund it when the Americans aren't looking. This stuff makes me think that's already happening for the 2% target.

[-] LoveWitch@hexbear.net 7 points 18 hours ago

Insurance payout to the bullet-owning industry when each bullet gets used to compensate for the loss of future rents

[-] RedDawn@hexbear.net 30 points 1 day ago

That’s actually true with regards to some of the missiles.

[-] john_brown@hexbear.net 39 points 1 day ago

Wait ten years, they already can't do most of the service on their own wunderwaffen and have to have contractors from the manufacturer fly out to do them. It'll happen.

[-] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 5 points 15 hours ago

that's like 90% of the US MIC. Sell someone a bunch of F-35s then they're on the hook for parts and maintenance for 40 years or more.

[-] TommyBeans@hexbear.net 33 points 1 day ago

That’s true for the old shit too. When I was on the Nimitz I did maintenance on a portion of the propulsion system. Literally anything more than basic maintenance or simple parts swapping was going to be done by a shipyard dockworker. Despite having the tools and technical knowledge we weren’t allowed. That thing is cold war tech.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago

They're not listed yet because the vote to proscribe Pal Al hasn't happened yet. They vote on 2nd July and plan to implement on 4th July.

The vote won't fail though so we all talk about it like it's already happened.
