I just wish it was actually helping. You catch these guys in a lie and they aren't even embarrassed, they know already.
To shame a hypocrite, they must desire legitimacy. These are people whose ideology has no such hindrances.
The worst part isn't even that they aren't embarassed - they're propagandist ghouls, one basically expects that. It's that millions of 'normal' people react the same way, and find this behavior normal and laudable.
It's deeply chilling, yes - the normalising of inhuman sentiment.
To shame a hypocrite they must first have the capability to feel shame.
It's just plain bad faith. They aren't bothered by getting caught because they don't believe anything they say.
Time was, being a sociopath whose sole aim was to undermine all of society would get you killed or exiled. Why'd we ever stop?
They also get off on knowing that the "rules" don't apply to them. Debate Bros only ever say what they need in order to "win" an argument; like you said, their only beliefs are whatever they need to believe to score a point.
