apologies for poor picture, was redownloading ETS2 and the speed is baffling to look at. What causes steam’s download speed to be horrendous?

Capitalization is important here, though. 4 MBps is 8x faster than OP's pic of 4 Mbps.

Depends on area and infrastructure pretty heavy. I can get 200x that on a good day in my current location and have been in places where that is some damned good speeds.

Yeah I was mostly referring to Internet speeds in general moreso than steam. Steam fills whatever it is given.
