it is so fucking insane how since Vietnam any anti war thought is violently suppressed. Like fuck, just in my lifetime ive now seen it several times. Everytime its "HOW DARE YOU BE AGAINST DEAD INNOCENT CIVILIANS"

I have had to explain to two separate people this year that POW/MIA was entirely made up to get people to vote for Nixon. Thankfully that brainworm is easier to kill now (it's been 60 years, Vietnam is on good terms with the US, where exactly are they supposed to be, etc).

Can't remember the source I found at the time, but even libs are onboard so it's not that hard to find stuff. Here's one article, though it's not especially scholarly.
