Antifa Just means Anti Facism. If you're against facism, you're Antifa.
Any means telling you otherwise are either fascists or people making Jokes to fool fascists.
Thanks I know what it means but there is no existing antifa group, right? I understand a lot of people on lemmy consider themselves anti-facist and that's nice but they're not members of an organized group.
What I'm getting at is the executive order is targeting something that doesn't actually exist irl. I'm guessing this EO is a reaction to protestors in Oregon during Trump's first term who were wearing masks and calling themselves antifa. Was it a real organization then? Seemed like a bunch of kids to me with no actual leadership structure.
There is no such group or anything. The order is Just a tool to hunt down political enemies easier.
There actually are many groups in the US which have "Antifa" in their name: for instance Rose City Antifa, NYC Antifa, Philly Antifa, Atlanta Antifa, among many others. Obviously this new (completely unprecedented btw) "domestic terrorist organization" designation is also going to be used against many people who aren't affiliated with any such group.
Gotcha. I See it more as identification rather than being an actual group. If you can follow me. I dunno how to explain it better..
There are many antifa groups. Anti fascist action is best preformed in groups. It's dangerous work.
