A little over a week ago, the Socialist Movement of Ghana concluded its second National Delegates Congress in Aburi, gathering 300 delegates from across the country. There, they deepened their commitment to the working class of Ghana and committed to intensifying political education and organization at the grassroots. The SMG itself decided to not electorally contest the 2024 elections in Ghana, but still presented a manifesto, and nonetheless managed to get two SMG members parliamentary seats in the National Democratic Congress.

Anyway, back to the National Delegates Congress: the delegates agreed that the Western imperialist system is now under a profound crisis, in which the likely future is a heightening of brutality, chaos, and resource plundering - a future which must be resisted and organized against.

To summarize their various statements and condemnations:

  • Inside Ghana: a commitment to women's rights, youth empowerment, and environmental protection.
  • A condemnation of the resource plundering of the Democratic Republic of the Congo by imperialist powers.
  • A salute to the people of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, in their campaign against outside imperial control in the Sahel.
  • A condemnation of Morocco's illegal occupation of the Western Sahara, and a call for the UN to identify the independence of the Sahwari people.
  • A strong condemnation of Israel's genocidal atrocities and massive terrorist operations against nearby countries, and support for Palestinian independence.
  • Support for the people of Haiti against outside imperial domination.
  • A call for the end of the blockade on Cuba and their removal from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
  • Solidarity with Maduro and the people of Venezuela against the United States.
  • A rejection of all imperialist aggression and sanctions against Iran.
  • A condemnation of NATO's decades-long military expansion eastwards towards Russia, especially as it has now resulted in massive devastation and risks a third world war.
  • And finally, a commitment to Pan Africanism and international solidarity with all oppressed peoples around the world.

A platform I think we all can agree to!

The Zionist Entity's Genocide of Palestine

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.

The White House and US President Donald Trump have released their Gaza "peace plan".

In short, Hamas demilitirisation, a security force of Arab nations to occupy Gaza after Israeli withdrawal, civil governance performed by technocratic Palestinian experts directly overseen and supervised by Trump and other former and current heads of state, aid to resume and Gaza to be rebuilt under this security force and technocrats.

No dutchmen, belgian, czechslovak or polish would have stomached being partially occupied by nazi germany and refused an army post-ww2 but now they demand the very thing of the palestinians? This shows the astronomically levels of dehumanization Palestinians are subjected to.

From a realist/realpolitik perspective, it all depends if Qatar can convince Hamas to accept the deal, they have the influence here. The full deal is being presented to Hamas by the Qatari Prime Minister and Egyptian head of Intelligence, so there is significant investment from them here.

In the event Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, the above, including the scaled-up aid operation, will proceed in the terror-free areas handed over from the IDF to the ISF.

time will tell if this happens with/without israel's approval

Add a 4th withdrawal to this map where the 4th withdrawal is the final withdrawal of Hamas and I would consider taking the offer.

Hamas can not consider disarming or withdrawing until Israel are behind the security zone and an alternate security arrangement is in place. The ISF is clearly supposed to be that alternate security arrangement.

These terms are surprisingly reasonable and there is real potential in this deal.

There will not be a better deal. The question here is ultimately whether you want Gaza's Palestinians to survive or whether you think Hamas can bring about the total destruction of Israel. I am not convinced that Israel is going to collapse, and therefore taking a deal seems like a reasonable consideration.

If Gaza is to be rebuilt then it also means opening up borders and ports. Hamas' members won't be kept out for long, they will return. Gaza will be able to rebuild. A resistance will be able to re-stock. The ISF will never be able to control Gaza compared to local forces, the ISF will be set upon by local forces while simultaneously being pressured by Israel, it has potential to make relationships between Israel and other states worse while simultaneously re-strengthening Gaza.

These terms are surprisingly reasonable and there is real potential in this deal.

As long as these terms require the order of Palestinian withdrawal > Israeli withdrawal > ISF force they are objectively only an intensification of genocide. Israel will allow the Palestinians to disarm and do what they have always done by making up a pretext to keep killing them. The ISF will never see the inside of Gaza and there will be no consequences. This deal is only even worth considering if, as you say, Palestinian withdrawal comes after the ISF force is implemented.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yes I completely agree. The prevention of genocide is the highest priority here and disarming Hamas before an alternative means of prevention is in place would be catastrophic.

Disarmament doesn't necessarily even mean end of Palestinian resistance either. If the borders of Gaza are opened up after this event then prevention of re-arming will be impossible and they will be in a much better position than before Oct 7th. There are positives to interpret in that outcome.

[-] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Another reason why Israel will likely not allow this to happen and will simply continue their genocide unless they are forced not to is that they cannot allow any excavation of ruined buildings that could lead to an accurate count of those killed in this genocide.
