But why tho? Predators usually go after the weakest animal first.
You’re starting to make me think that “Lime @Not_Lime” made the whole thing up. What a scamp.
Many predators don't want to eat sick animals though.
Usually with birds the answer is sexual selection. As a group they seem to have a general preference for bright, colorful things.
