Had to make a reddit account for help with an emulation handheld.
Fuck, my first time back in 3 years and I wish I had never bothered.

What was the actual issue?
I had a setting native to the device itself (hidden in a particular swipe screen) that was fucking with the PPSSPP emulator on my device. Something to do with key remapping. Turning that off let the PPSSPP app detect the left analog stick, so I can finally actally play shit normally now.
Ironically, that was the very last suggestion offered in another thread, so this smug dingleberry did actually help me once I waded through all the assery.
