Do you think that she used "A handmaid's tale" because she was mocked for using 1984 too much, but doesn't know any other dystopian novels apart from those two?
I do now. I've been asking myself how this relates to a handmaids tale all day but I think you nailed it. It was kind of like the Brothers Karamazov, probably, I've never read it
