It was brought up in a class on love in Chinese and Western literature that I was taking last year. The hypothesis we came up with was that gay sex would have been best to prevent the loss of vital life force, but IDK what the Daoist experts think on that.
There are non-literary religious traditions. This is most of human religious experience in fact
