tag yourself, I'm the anonymous Dragon Age II defender (I haven't played that game in like 10 years but I honestly remember having an alright time with it, then again I haven't played through Origins so I don't have that to compare it against)
It's my favourite Dragon Age game as well for basically those exact reasons, I absolutely love that the story is for the most part very localised to Kirkwall and your friends.
I never connected to the Inquisition party like I did with DA2's because they just felt like coworkers rather than friends.
Also side note: I will never forgive cdpr for cutting Iorveth from the Witcher 3.
