Elevator dudes opened my eyes to the fact that if it exists it's probably got a fandom around it.

There's a whole fandom around elevators I guess, the old sub used to riff on those guys.

People who are compelled to collect and document every single fact and model of a topic or technology, no matter how obscure or mundane, are the backbone of society and I mean that completely unironically

Autism?? Special interest type beat?

Aaaw that seems pretty harmless and kinda cute. Let people enjoy things (kind of unironically this time). Like if a guy wants to hit on me...start talking about your niche weird interests. 90% of the time I will be at least curious.

Yeah I have no problem with elevator fans, it's nice. I just find it funny how it opened my eyes to mundane everyday real world things having fans.

Are there guys with dozens of elevator shafts in their 2 storey homes?

[-] Rom@hexbear.net 13 points 8 months ago

Depends on how many rich eccentric elevator guys there are. I bet there's at least one

[-] AernaLingus@hexbear.net 2 points 8 months ago

I would love to spend a day at that guy's house and learn more than I could have ever imagined there was to learn about elevators

Absolutely one of the most dangerous jobs, elevator mechanic/installer. I hesitate every time I step into one, having read many OSHA reports.

[-] DyingOfDeBordom@hexbear.net 4 points 8 months ago

is it dangerous or just dangerous if you don't have one because I imagine most elevator mechanics aren't stepping onto unsafe elevators
