A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The best ones are thoughts that many people can relate to and they find something funny or interesting in regular stuff.

OP is probably thinking about the original 1980s MTV. Not the current MTV.
I must admit it’s great to be able to set up a playlist of the music videos I grew up with and set it to random play.
"remember when MTV played music?" - every graduating high school student ever remembering mtv from their 8th grade
...mostly commercials and bottom-feeder infomercials...
