All I want in life is to just, you know, chill with friends and family, take care of nature, be productive in a positive way and die after living a happy and full life. And then fucks like this get to decide whether I die in a Ukrainian trench or face whatever fate in prison.

[-] rando895@lemmygrad.ml 31 points 8 months ago

The shit we are going to have to go through so that we can one day chill and enjoy life, should be unnecessary.

[-] DankZedong@lemmygrad.ml 25 points 8 months ago

I've accepted that it will happen I think. Too much libs screaming for a war against Russia at this point, our leaders will not be stopped by them.

[-] cayde6ml@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 8 months ago

Agreed. I just want to surf the galaxy in a fully automated luxury badass communist spaceship with my family and friends. Make Mass Effect look like cavemen by comparison. But it's going to be awhile before then.

[-] cayde6ml@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 8 months ago

I want to live for billions and billions, if not trillions of years, surf the galaxy in a badass spaceship in a fully-automated luxury bisexual space communism future after preventable death has been more or less "cured" after socialist technological advancement, bang sexy consenting sapient aliens ala Mass Effect, and be able to up close (relatively speaking) observe black holes, beautiful nebulas, scorching stars, wonderous galactic filaments, and grasp at cosmic strings, all after capitalism has been defeated.

That being said, stopping and smelling extrasolar roses sounds nice, too.

[-] cayde6ml@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 8 months ago

I've always been afraid of death, and I think I always will be. But for now, we have a world to win.

[-] Kirbywithwhip1987@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 8 months ago

Tbf there is some jellyfish that CAN live forever, so if we figure it out to do it ourselves with help of it's DNA, it could be possible in the next decades!

[-] cayde6ml@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 8 months ago

That is one possible avenue of many. I think immortality will be granted through a wide variety of possible methods and inventions and breakthroughs. Ray Kurzweil, a brilliant scientist decades ahead of his time and who is correct over 80 percent of the time in his +100 predictions, strongly suspects that humanity will likely "cure" preventable death sometime before the end of this century.

[-] Kirbywithwhip1987@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Yeah, the main thing is not only to cure all diseases, but mainly aging which itself is considered a disease by many. Some creatures like the mentioned jellyfish have the ability to regenerate cells and replace the old ones therefore no aging and not only that but regenerate any body parts or damage they sustain(i.e Axolotls, salamanders etc).

I'm really hoping in the next few decades, I mean how amazing would be to stay here forever, we have too many shitty things to fix on this planet! And also, I want to see Capybaras become a global species which is everywhere like dogs and cats.

[-] cayde6ml@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 8 months ago

I know! I'm glad that aging and death is being viewed as more of an affliction than something that is natural or inevitable, I hope that in a socialist society or on the pathway, aging could one day be permanently stalled or ended, and I think it's wonderful that scientists look into axolotls and salamanders and jellyfish for life extension methods.

Same, I think it's really shitty that up until now, life only lasts a few decades. I want to live for so long, that iron stars themselves begin to fizzle out.

I feel the same about Komodo Dragons.

[-] Kirbywithwhip1987@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 8 months ago

Yeah exactly, on the bight side, we're very possibly only decades away from it! There is so much to be done on this planet for such a small lifespan.

And fuck yeah, Komodo Dragons are one of my favorites and one of the best creatures today along with Cassowary and Crocodiles, literal living dinosaurs!

[-] cayde6ml@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 8 months ago

That's why I'm going to try my best to stay alive and not do any stupid or dangerous shit, until the future treatments/methods for life extension become widely available and affordable. And in a socialist society, I can see the benefits fucking soaring, what with the total transformation of society.

You probably don't need me to tell you this, but crocodiles and komodos aren't Dinosaurs. They are definitely related, but birds are/were Dinosaurs

[-] Kirbywithwhip1987@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 8 months ago

Exactly, we just need to wait until then.

Both are Archosaur/related and Komodos and monitor lizards are closely connected to Mosasaurus.

I have started to see capitalism as a system which runs off of taking your happiness, or more like, your ability to make yourself happy. Under capitalism, money comodifies your ability to live happily and contently. What makes each person happy and content may differ but in the end money is really what drives your ability to obtain it. The capitalists goal isn't just to take all of your money, it's to take everything that can make you happy. They are like dragons from D&D. They are greed incarnate. If one of them actually had all the money in the world, they would want your shoes, your clothes, your food, the little stick hut you made yourself in the woods, whatever you might have that brings you some semblance of a better existence. Whatever brings you some happiness. Its not even about OWNING everything, it's about TAKING everything, and happiness is something else they can take. All you have to do is look how they view happy poor people. They find it revolting. Normal people will always look for ways to be happy, even when they have nothing, and to the capitalist it just shows them that they "missed a spot." If they can't take a poor person's happiness then they can't take everything from them.
