Lumping Diablo into "competition" is like smelling dogshit in a field of wild flowers. Sure, it's part of the environment, but no one is happy it's there.
Yeah well Diablo exists. PoE2 is still a maybe.
Sadly the new diablo probably sold better (made more money) than poe and le combined.
Brand loyalty. If i was busy with life after 2002 after enjoying d2 I'd also give money for Diablo 3 and 4. But being in the know... No thanks. D4 is made to acquire money from the players. Last Epoch is made to allow players to play the game.
PoE is made for hardcore folks who want pain. Diablo is simplified. Two different audiences. I can't stand PoE.
I refunded D3 after finding out how they gate the auction house and drop weapon level during launch window. Never even tried to get the updated version or D4 at all. Blizzard is dead for me at D3.
10M sales and 1B dollars.
You aren't happy it's part of the conversation. The rest of the world likes it. The game is very popular and is 100% competition.
Not to mention Diablo Immoral, which possibly brought in over 500 million USD in a year. We may hate how it's monetized, but that shit rakes in fuckloads of money.
