It's just become steeped in tradition, and sorry to be a stereotypical edgelord and quote Rick Sanchez but scientifically, traditions are an idiot thing.
There is something to be said for diamonds as everyday jewelry; being the hardest material out there makes them hella durable.
But, jewelry is 100% a complete scam.

I mean I personally like how it looks. if people didn't no one would wear it. if its not your thing its not your thing :)
Well, tradition is opposed to the scientific method, which advocates constantly reassessing what you think you know, if that's what you meant.
