these things look so fuckin stupid lmao

[-] Black_Mald_Futures@hexbear.net 28 points 4 months ago

i watched a video of one trying to get out of a river and idfk why anyone would ever think it could actually do that

like it takes a serious ignorance of basic physics to see how long it is and how low it is to the ground and think it's going to have any sort of clearance over literally any obstacle or incline

[-] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

Iirc Elon said they would be amphibious and you could literally drive them across small rivers

[-] Breath_Of_The_Snake@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

I wonder if it’s possible to lift a cyber truck. Putting one into a squat would be so cursed.

[-] the_itsb@hexbear.net 14 points 4 months ago

omg omg omg 😂 I just saw a regular pickup truck with crazy camber and a squat thing going on yesterday, that would be sooooo fucking funny on cybertruck

now I desperately want to see one with itty bitty tiny tires, super close to the ground, like that fad in the early 00s

scraping the ground every time they drive on a brick street or hit a pothole 😂

please baby jesus, if we can't have communism, at least give us a cybertruck lowering & stancing fad

There’s a local truck that’s infamous for being

A) massive

And

B) in a Carolina squat (super low in the back and lifted up front)

Shit should be illegal but I’d make an exception for cybertrucks because it would look so damn funny. The bed is already trash so imagine if it was tilted and shit just constantly fell out lol.

Also, the formative fast and furious years have me upset at this low riding slander jk.

[-] the_itsb@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago

what is even the point of the Carolina squat?!?! I've only seen it once in person, and it looked so fucking dangerous to everyone, truck occupants included

[-] Breath_Of_The_Snake@hexbear.net 14 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

It originated in socal for desert racing with all the elevation changes. It actually has a purpose if you plan on speeding over a dune and don’t want to nose dive.

Southern truck culture just adopted it as a chud aesthetic without even considering the practical aspects.

Edit: and you are completely correct it’s dangerous af on the road. Technically illegal most places but pigs don’t enforce it.

[-] the_itsb@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago

I've always assumed the pigs don't enforce driving laws for shithead trucks because those are their coworkers and friends

[-] Breath_Of_The_Snake@hexbear.net 10 points 4 months ago

Also jealousy sometimes, I see the local squat pulled over chatting it up with em every once in a while

[-] TechnoUnionTypeBeat@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

And much like with the excessive camber that a lot of people think is cool on cars (where the wheels flare out sideways), pre-loading a desert truck is usually pretty subtle, only a few inches up and down. Noticeable but functional

Lots of street trends like the Carolina Squat and Stancing take these concepts and jack them up past 11 into pure ridiculous territory

[-] Breath_Of_The_Snake@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago

Honestly, I’d welcome anyone who purged those that engage in it. No questions asked. It’s the final form of American car culture and must be repressed.

Critical support to all who squat their cybertrucks and their accelerator pedals get stuck and plunge them to their doom in ponds.

[-] trashxeos@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 4 months ago

I've seen one in person, they're even worse IRL than in pictures, and they were already ugly I was pictures

[-] CommunistBear@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I saw my first one irl the other day and agree, somehow way worse in person. I feel like if this was sport car sized it might make it better but given that it's fucking enormous it is the epitome of bazingamobile

[-] Dingus_Khan@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

I've seen a few, or maybe just the same one a few times, around town and this is my thought every time. I don't know how they look so much goofier irl, but they absolutely do.

[-] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 6 points 4 months ago

I saw one for the first time, and this is no exaggeration. They 100% look worse in person. And the cybertruck was black but wasn't like the black that's shiny. It was a completely dull black, almost as if the cybertruck was first dipped in dark chocolate or something.

It looked absolutely hideous.

[-] AnarchoBolshevik@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 4 months ago

I still can’t believe that they’re on the market. They look like rejected concept cars.
