Oh absolutely, all these meme picks are setting up run of the mill reactionary fanatics to look “reasonable” as the replacements after the meme picks get borked.
I mean, when the McConnell faction in the Senate is the only guard rail, you are pretty much fucked.

You think he'll go to Paxton? I figured he'd just name another Senator - Hawley or Cruz - who can breeze through confirmation without issue.
I can't see even Trump picking Ted Cruz.
Why not? He's got the background for the job, at the very least. He's a loyal little toadie, when push comes to shove. He's guaranteed to get confirmed, since Senators love waving each other through confirmation. And he's a vicious piece of shit who will be more than happy to feed Trump's appetite for revenge.
I agree he's dangerous. And there's a real chance he'll plant a knife in Trump's back at the first opportunity. But do you really think Rubio or Hegseth or Gaetz wouldn't do the same?
