In the convection oven, by the time the fries are crisped, they are dry

Put them in a colander, give them a good rinse under the kitchen tap to get them wet all over, then tip onto a tray and into a preheated oven at 200°C for 10 minutes. Arguably better as leftovers than originally.

The warrant gives them the legal right to enter the house, but being vampires, they cannot enter without being invited. However, should you decide not to invite them, you can be found in contempt and arrested, which then creates the problem that the vampire police officer can’t enter to arrest you without being invited…

“Not at this address - return to sender” doesn’t do much, but “Deceased - return to sender” always works for me. Hopefully someone at the bank/sender flags the account and makes it the account holder’s problem.

(Don’t use sticky notes, they’ll fall off in the mail. Use a black permanent marker and write as big as possible so that they can’t “accidentally” miss your note. Cross out any barcodes or other markings that the post office adds so that it won’t automatically be re-sent to you, the machines will reject it and it will be manually routed back to the sender)

I’m assuming that if I have to ask why? then I’m outside of the target audience.

Should have vibe-coded it then fed it to itself to review the code.

[-] DirigibleProtein@aussie.zone 2 points 5 days ago

the coder does not need to understand how or why the code works, and often will have to accept that a certain number of bugs and glitches will be present

So it’s just Agile then?

  • Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
  • Working software over comprehensive documentation

Why would you go to a chiropractor for any medical problem? Get a tarot reading and a horoscope, the results will be just as useful.

I’ve been bitten by a horse, snake (twice, years apart), cat, red back spider, dog (twice, weeks apart). What’s your count?

Being completely unaware of anyone else:

  • Standing in doorways, using your phone or having a conversation
  • Talking loudly when inappropriate, when I’m in pain at the doctors, I don’t want to hear about your roses
  • leaving your shopping trolley blocking the aisle sideways in the supermarket while looking for your stuff
  • driving down the middle of the road so everyone else has to pull over, when there’s plenty of room for two cars to pass
  • stopping in the middle of the road without indicating, while: looking for your destination, or having a conversation, or deciding what day it is
  • riding your delivery bike down the footpath at high speed weaving between pedestrians

As Jean-Paul Sartre said, “Hell is other people”.

When I switch applications on iPad, and switch back to Firefox, it opens a new blank tab every time. But doesn’t happen on iPhone. Settings are the same on both devices.

Has anyone else seen this?

Firefox 123.1

iOS 17.3.1
iPad mini 5
iPhone 13 mini

I was having lunch in the break room on the 23rd floor, vaguely watching the world go by. Two blocks away, a car drove up to the top level of a parking garage, a bunch of guys got out, and cut through the chain link fence separating the garage building from the roof of the building next door. “Well, that’s unusual behaviour “, I thought, and kept watching. When they moved over to that roof and started to break in to the rooftop door, I realised that it was the bank down the street. Called the cops and gave them a running commentary. Eventually when they showed up I got to see the tussle between the cops and the bad guys on the roof. Felt like a tv show.

Why are Ofcom and UK Parliament still using https:// ? They should set an example, and stop using illegal end to end encryption!
