A reminder that as the US continues to threaten countries around the world, fedposting is to be very much avoided (even with qualifiers like "in Minecraft") and comments containing it will be removed.

Image is of protestors in Nigeria in 2024.

As I'm sure everybody is aware by now, Trump's accusation that Nigerian armed groups are unfairly persecuting Christians in the country is a rather bizarre lie, seeking a justification to go in, to quote Trump, "guns-a-blazing". Whether this is likely to actually occur or is merely a threat, who can really say nowadays? But Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province are targeting people in Nigeria fairly indiscriminately; insomuch that there is a target, it is farmers whose land is being raided and taken in resource conflicts, and their religious affiliation is not usually questioned by those groups before they are pillaged and/or murdered from what I can tell.

The President of Nigeria, Tinubu, has no small responsibility for this state of affairs - enacting IMF "reforms" which have exacerbated hunger, poverty, and unemployment in the service of Western financial institutions. Those who have protested against this state of affairs have faced repression by state security forces. Meanwhile, Tinubu allegedly has strong connections to the DEA, paying large amounts of money to avoid a trial for his actions; the DEA released this statement: “We oppose the full… release of the DEA’s Bola Tinubu heroin trafficking investigation records,” which is certainly not concerning at all - followed by “While Nigerians have a right to be informed about what their government is up to, they do not have a right to know what their president is up to.”

It must be a shame for him that such a loyal subject of empire is facing such scrutiny, and it likely has everything to do with Nigeria's inexorably growing connections to China (just like pretty much every country on the planet), especially in relation to Nigeria's massive mineral deposits. It could also perhaps be retribution for Nigeria's failure to adequately oppose the growing independence of the Sahel.

Posting this in the big thread for visibility.

Leslie Lee passed away this week. Some may have known him as a film critic and host on the podcast Struggle Session. Leslie was a remarkably genuine person, he was loved by so many in his life.

Leslie was an advocate for those who suffer from COVID, including long COVID which he experienced. In his memory I would like to remind everyone to mask up appropriately. Treat public health seriously. Consider the health of others as well as your own.

All I know is what's in this thread: https://redlib.nohost.network/r/TrueAnon/comments/1oxjv9j/devastating_loss_of_leslie_lee/ [edit: replaced link]

It includes tweets by Leslie's spouse, who has a gofundme available if anyone would like to contribute.

Venezuelan Special Forces are patrolling the streets of Caracas in preventive actions against saboteurs. On Saturday night (11/15), CORPOLEC (Corporación Eléctrica Nacional, S.A., often known by its abbreviation Corpoelec, is a fully integrated state power corporation of Venezuela) reported acts of sabotage against three transmission towers that were blown up. The Venezuelan government is treating the case of the three transmission towers that exploded in the municipality of Juan Antonio Sotillo as an act of internal sabotage, describing the action as having been carried out by “criminal agents supported by foreign powers.”

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum denounces today's Gen-Z anti-government protests, says violence should not be used to bring about change.

https://www.telesurtv.net/mexico-manifestantes-derriban-vallas-palacio/

Machine translation

This Saturday, two groups marched in parallel: the self-proclaimed Generation Z (people born between 1995 and 2012), and the "Hat Group," the later linked to Carlos Manzo, former mayor of Urupan, Michoacán, who was murdered on November

Protesters in Mexico marched peacefully until a group charged the barriers surrounding the National Palace, parking classes with police and causing damage.

In clashes with the Mexican federal police and riots in the capital's Zócalo, at the doors of the National Palace (seat of the Executive Branch), the peaceful march, originally called by Generation Z , was hijacked by sectors of the right. The mobilization was intended to express rejection of the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum .

The police protecting the vicinity of the National Palace used tear gas to contain the violent masked protesters who began hitting the fences with hammers and stones Istana Nasional) are using gas air mata to inject into the police force, using sticks and bats in an attempt to enter the building. After an hour of struggles, the group of hooded men had managed to tear down several of the security fences surrounding the government headquarters and caused damage

The protests, which were also replicated in other cities across the country, included slogans against the president and the ruling Morena party , which is considered to have continued the previous regime of impunity in the face of the political violence plaguing the nation.

This Saturday, two groups marched in parallel: the self-proclaimed Generation Z (people born between 1995 and 2012), and the "Hat" group , the later linked to Carlos Manzo, former major of Urupan, Michoacán , who was murdered on November 1st. The main demand of the later group is the clarification and justice for the major's murder : "Carlos Manzo, hero of Mexico," "Hats yes, hugs no," and "Recall of mandate" were some of their slogans.

A group of protesters broke through the barrels in front of the National Palace.

Police officers worked to contain them and prevent access.

https://xcancel.com/teleSURmx/status/1989789983658410262

For its part, the Mexican Government has indicated the intervention and the hijacking of the march by the opposition to its management during the call for mobilizations. As explained by the correspondent of teleSUR on the ground, a campaign has been positioned on social networks by sectors of the right, in order to co-opt the call of young people and lead it towards their partisan interests .

According to the government, it is estimated that at least $5 million was invested by these opposition sectors over a month . Even so, those attending the mobilization today assert that this campaign did not manage to attract as many people as the organizers expected.

The composition of the march distinguishes it from other marches called by the self-proclaimed "Generation Z," which have been marked by the young age of most of their participants. Photo: EFE

It should be noted that this national Generation Z protest in Mexico differences from others carried out by similar groups in other parts of the world, as it was not marked by age , and protests of all ages were observed, without the youngest predominating.

The peaceful participants in the march have been empathic and clear in their demands to the government: they will not accept that the victims of violence in the country are forgotten , a problem that has persisted despite the change of government the country had in 2018 with the taking of power of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, of the Morena party.

After several attempts by hitting and smashing the metal barriers, the group of masked individuals dressed in black managed to knock down several of the three-meter-high barriers, so more uniformed officers came out of the building and fired more tear gas to disperse the protesters. Many rejected these actions with shots of "out with the masked ones" and "you don't represent me."

Meanwhile, people like Liliana Sánchez say they decided to participate in the march to express their disagreement with Sheinbaum's administration: the "government has control of everything" and there are no "checks and balances." According to this Mexican woman, the three branches of government that make balance possible in a state have disappeared , with the entry into Morena of figures from the PRI and PAN parties who intend to continue stealing and maintain a corrupt system of government.

Alice Wong - disabled activist, author, founder of the Disability Visibility project, and co-founder of the Crips for eSims for Gaza - passed away today. She was doing incredible work.

Statement from her family:

"Alice Wong passed away on Friday, November 14th at UCSF Hospital due to an infection. She was 51 years old. Alice lived in San Francisco and grew up in Indiana.

Alice was the daughter to Henry and Bobby. The elder sister to Emily and Grace. The cat mom to Bert and Ernie, and a dear friend to many.

She will be remembered as being a fierce luminary in disability justice, a brilliant writer, editor and community organizer. Her work can be found at Disability Visibility Project.

As we mourn the incomprehensible loss of Alice, we share the words she gifted us with from her memoir, Year of the Tiger. “The real gift any person can give is a web of connective tissue. If we love fiercely, our ancestors live among and speak to us through these incandescent filaments glowing from the warmth of memories.”

We would like to invite her friends, community, and her many fans to contribute to Alice’s GoFundMe to continue the legacy of her work."

The Hill: Hegseth announces operation ‘Southern Spear’ to quash ‘narco-terrorists’

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on Thursday evening a new operation dubbed “Southern Spear” to quash “narco-terrorists” in the Western Hemisphere.

Hegseth said the mission is being led by Joint Task Force Southern Spear and U.S. Southern Command (Southcom) to defend the “Homeland, removes narco-terrorists from our Hemisphere, and secures our Homeland from the drugs that are killing our people.”

...

In late January, the U.S. military announced that the U.S. Navy’s 4th Fleet will start a new operation, named “Southern Spear,” that will “operationalize a heterogeneous mix of Robotic and Autonomous Systems (RAS) to support the detection and monitoring of illicit trafficking while learning lessons for other theaters.”

Strange that they announced it way in advance, right after Trump's inauguration. I guess it was vague enough to avoid raising suspicions, but why say anything at all?

[-] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 31 points 2 weeks ago

It seems to be two different operations sharing the same name, led by different parts of the military.

posting

I think people should be less worried about what is and isn't "news" in this thread. I think the mods mainly remove posts that were mistakenly put here instead of the general mega (which is fine), but as long as things are news-related or relevant to some of the news-heads here, I think it's OK to post them. It might be different if we were in weeks where decades happen with 2000+ comment newsmegas, but this thread will probably end at under 750 comments.

This is just my personal opinion, and I'm not complaining about the mods (who I think are doing a good job). Thank you for coming to my Hex Talk.

Wikipedia: A sham election, or show election, is an election that is held purely for show; that is, without any significant political choice or real impact on the results of the election.

The 1929 and 1934 elections in Fascist Italy

The 1942 general election in Imperial Japan

Those in Nazi Germany, East Germany other than the election in 1990

???

Those in Egypt under Gamal Abdel Nasser, Anwar Sadat, Hosni Mubarak, and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi

Those in Bangladesh under Sheikh Hasina

???

Those in Russia under Vladimir Putin

???

Those in Venezuela under Nicolas Maduro (most notably in 2018 and 2024)

Those in Belarus after 1994 (most notably in 2020)

The 1991 and 2019 Kazakh presidential elections

Those in North Korea

The 1995 and 2002 presidential referendums in Saddam Hussein's Iraq

Those in Cuba since the Cuban Revolution.

The 2025 Tanzanian general election was decried by many as a sham election.

WTF even is this list? They focus on stuff like Cuba and ignore all the latam sham elections during the 1880s - 1980s (mostly under the junta control). And they consider Maduro elections fake but not Chavez? How tf are all of North Korea elections fake when South Korea has been a military dictatorship for most of it's existance.

Canada in the running to headquarter new multinational defence bank - Globe & Mail

The Defence, Security and Resilience Bank, or DSRB, is a multilateral lending institution being established by a collective of countries that includes NATO members and their Indo-Pacific allies.

The blueprint for the DSRB was laid out last year by Rob Murray, the chief executive officer of the bank’s development group. Mr. Murray is also the founding architect of NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic, as well as its Innovation Fund.

The DSRB, to be established by the end of 2026, will include as many as 40 member countries. Twelve will be anchor countries, tasked with ratifying and governing the bank’s founding charter and choosing the location of its headquarters. Those 12 are currently being finalized, and industry members, as well as members of the bank’s development group, are lobbying Ottawa to throw its hat into the ring.

Sucks ass. They'll do something like this and then say NATO isn't a political body, just a mutual defence pact.

The hidden history of Indigenous slavery in New England and beyond amerikkka Hexbear Post

It’s part of a hidden history of Native American enslavement – a surprising and overlooked story in the narrative of early America.

As colonial powers took over Native land in the 1600s, white settlers were also enslaving Native people. Some worked in New England. Others were sold overseas. And some, like Williams’ ancestors, were kidnapped and shipped to an isolated tropical island.

Turdreal has trafficked and subsequently abandoned 176 Palestinians from Gaza into South Africa, on a flight from a military base/concentration camp, in what is essentially an ultimatum of "deportation to an undisclosed country, or the ovens". The possessions of the refugees were all stolen, aside from a passport/ID and a smartphone, then loaded on a plane with no indication where they would be sent and on arrival, left to find for themselves. It was only by pure chance that the "Gaza 176" just so happened to arrive in Johannesburg of all places.

As of 12 November, DIRCO or any other South African government agency are believed to be aware of the situation but the exceptional and concerning circumstances have likely made it difficult to issue a formal statement. The decision for the refugees to be sent to arguably one of the safest countries in the world for Palestinians or their supporters will no doubt be used to force a moral/legal dilemma on South Africa and to foster even more violence perpetrated by a colony composed almost entirely of the modern-day Einzatsgruppen. Meanwhile the Knesset has already passed a bill allowing the death penalty of Palestinian hostages 37-16, with Itamar Bent-Over handing out candy after the vote, while Shitreali media routinely invokes the words, policies and actions of the Third Reich verbatim. - Salaamedia

The Saudis have seem to set their price for joining the Abraham Accords (normalisation with Israel). The THAAD anti ballistic missile system is not enough; Saudi Arabia wants F-35A 5th generation stealth fighter aircraft too.

Trump Likely to Sell F-35 Fighters to Saudis, US Official Says - Bloomberg News, 14 November 2025

This is a big deal, as Israel is the only current operator of 5th generation stealth fighters in the region. One way to maintain the "qualitative edge" policy towards Israel would be to only grant Israel access to the planned Technology Refresh 3 (TR3) and Block IV upgrades to the F-35, and locking the Saudis out of that. (The F-35 is still highly capable sans TR3 and Block IV upgrades, but the upgrades are a big deal too). Or Israel could be a future customer of the planned F-47 6th generation stealth fighter. It's also big news because the Saudis were looking at the Chinese J-35, an appropriately named F-35 competitor/analogue. If this goes through, that deal would be dead.

Tomorrow is a UNSC resolution on a UN endorsed "multi-national" occupation of Gaza. The Palestinian resistance has denounced it.

We will see if Russia or China will veto.

spoiler

🇵🇸 Palestinian Resistance Factions: — In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

The Palestinian Resistance Factions in Gaza are monitoring ongoing efforts within the halls of the United Nations to pass the American draft resolution related to the deployment of international forces in Gaza. This resolution, under various titles, practically represents a new attempt to impose another form of occupation on our land and our people, and to legitimize foreign guardianship over the future of our national cause.

In light of this dangerous development, we, the Palestinian Resistance Factions, address a sincere and fraternal appeal to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, its government and its people, to continue adhering to its principled positions supporting Palestine, and to maintain its firm rejection of any projects targeting the identity of Gaza and the right of our people to self-determination.

The historical position of Algeria, which has never abandoned Palestine, represents the true hope for our people in confronting this project, which seeks to impose a new occupation under international cover. The Palestinian people view Algeria as the authentic expression of the free popular Arab stance, capable of speaking the truth in the face of pressures and dictates.

We affirm that any foreign intervention in Gaza, regardless of its designation, is a violation of our national sovereignty and a continuation of the suffering of our people. The only path to achieving security and stability is ending the occupation, lifting the siege, and respecting the will and inalienable rights of our people.

The Palestinian Resistance Factions, while expressing confidence in the fraternal Algerian position, call upon all Arab and Islamic nations, and all free people of the world, to stand against this resolution, reject any form of guardianship or foreign intervention, and defend Gaza's right to freedom, dignity, and independence.

Glory to the free peoples... and freedom for Palestine.

Pentagon Creating Amazon-Like Shopping Portal For Counter-Drone Equipment

The new shopping portal is being created as the U.S. faces increasing numbers of highly concerning drone incursions over military bases.

more

The new Pentagon task force established to counter threats posed by small drones on Friday announced the creation of a hub for agencies to purchase counter-drone equipment and ways to improve how these systems work together. The effort comes as the U.S. faces an increasing number of incursions over these facilities, and about a year after a spate of them began popping up across the continent. “We’re going to use all the tools at our disposal to be able to acquire new technology as quickly as possible to get it into the hands of the warfighter,” Brig. Gen. Matt Ross, director of the newly created Joint Interagency Task Force-401 (JIATF-401). Ross spoke on Friday to a small group of reporters, including from The War Zone. The Army-led task force is creating what Ross calls a “UAS and counter-UAS marketplace” that will allow the installation commanders and interagency partners like the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and local law enforcement to shop for equipment and components.

I love buying up dozens of completely different systems maya-devious Logistics officers love me!

A task force spokesman described the effort as “an Amazon-like marketplace for the procurement of counter-drone technology and equipment where people can go online, look for capabilities and user feedback.” It will be similar to one being launched by the Army for the procurement of drones. The marketplace “will provide authoritative data on how each of these systems performs under varying conditions and allow users or customers to select the tool that’s right for them,” Ross explained.

online marketplaces, famed for their accurate consumer reviews

“We’ve got a wide variety of counter-UAS tools, and I actually think that we need all of them, because depending on where you are or what threat you’re focused on, your requirements will be slightly different. So we want to ensure that we provide a range of options both to the Department of War and to our interagency partners.” The task force is looking at systems and components already on the market as well as working with industry partners to develop new ones. There are “hundreds of components of counter-UAS systems that could go on to the marketplace today, and we need to start thinking about these counter-UAS systems as components that are interchangeable.” He did not offer specific examples but said it includes a wide range of sensors to detect drones and low-collateral and non-kinetic effectors to defeat them. The task force is not looking at explosive interceptors because, as we pointed out in the past, there are concerns about collateral damage and what works in a combat zone is not applicable in the homeland. We have profiled a number of these systems in previous articles.

Providing individual components in addition to complete systems allows individual purchasers to better obtain what they need, Ross noted. “When you look at a full-stack system, you may settle for a less-than-optimal configuration of your radar, your EO/IR camera, and your layered effectors,” Ross explained. “If I only need to sense 20 kilometers and not 40 kilometers and I could change out that radar, put a lower-cost radar on there, then I could put more systems out into the field. As we look at that marketplace, I really want it to be components, similar to what you would see on any other online marketplace, that are plug-and-play as part of a counter-UAS system.”

this mfer thinks we have video-game crafting systems, "yeah lemme just go in the menu and put in the +10 detection radius radar"

Beyond offering equipment, the task force is streamlining the command and control of the wide array of systems being used by the military and its agency partners. “What’s critical in any counter-UAS system is the mission command that allows you to tie together disparate sensors and effectors,” he posited. “And so what we are going to do inside of JIATF-401 is ensure that we standardize the communications protocols on how we send and receive information so that every component of a counter-UAS system is plug and play.” “For too long, we’ve struggled with integration,” Ross suggested. “And as people use different mission command systems, they had to specifically integrate a new component. And just like when you buy something to put on your Wi-Fi network at home, you know it’s going to work because the communication protocols are already established. We want to do the exact same thing for counter-UAS systems, both internal to the Department of War and for our interagency partners.”

weaponry, famously the exact same as consumer electronics

The task force has yet to settle on a specific system. “We evaluated every service’s mission command system last month in Operation Clear Horizon,” the task force director explained. “We did that specifically to assess their quantitative performance and then qualitatively how the workflows affected the outcome of those mission command systems. And we’re evaluating that now.” While the task force is creating a more unified mission command system, Ross said it is important for individual installations to be able to act quickly on their own. “It’s important that we remain decentralized,” he said. “If you look at the speed at which these systems can present a threat, you have to have operators that are empowered, trained, and they understand their authorities to be able to counter those threats, because they just don’t have time to go up to a higher level for approval.”

...

Still, Ross insisted that military installations “are equipped to handle UAS incursions.” “The specific equipment varies by location,” Ross proffered, “but what we’re trying to build at each location where we have critical infrastructure that needs to be protected is a layered defense that includes distributed sensing and layered effectors so that we have the ability to counter any and all threats.” Another huge area of concern for the military are attacks like Ukraine’s Spider Web strike on Russian aviation and Israel’s Operation Rising Lion attack on air defense systems and other military targets and personnel. The incidents have highlighted the danger presented by near-field drone attacks launched deep within enemy territory, in close proximity to their targets. As we have pointed out for many years, military assets and other high-value targets are extremely vulnerable to these types of operations within the homeland. One of the most visible counter-drone efforts is taking place on the southern border, where President Donald Trump has ordered thousands of troops and equipment to prevent the flow of undocumented aliens and drugs into the country. “I was actually at the southern border last week, spending time both with the NORTHCOM team and with the Joint Task Force Southern Border to understand the challenges that they’re facing,” he said. “I do that because understanding their challenges very specifically will allow us to focus our effort on closing that next gap. If you look across the 1,954-mile border, I think that we do face a challenge of unmanned systems, and NORTHCOM is focused on addressing those challenges now, in conjunction with other lead federal agencies.” The task force is working toward “an integrated, distributed sensing network that includes both passive and active sensors, and then layering in effectors, or counter UAS effectors that will allow us to defeat a threat as it crosses the border,” Ross explained. “We’re working closely with DHS, Customs and Border Protection, the Department of Interior and other agencies that are working along the southern border.”

ah, testing out (counter-)drone technology against migrants on the border, sounds great i-am-adolf-hitler

surely the techniques developed there would never be turned inward onto the "native" population! foucault-madness

...

Drones have already been taken down coming over the border, Ross stated, but he did not specifically say how. We reached out to NORTHCOM and the task force for further details. It is one thing to have the equipment and personnel, but the task force is also pushing for increased authorities to act. That includes making sure all bases fall under the provisions of “130(i),” federal law covering current authorities for the “protection of certain facilities and assets from unmanned aircraft.” Under 130i, the U.S. military has the authority to take “action” to defend against drones including with measures to “disrupt control of the unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft, without prior consent, including by disabling the unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft by intercepting, interfering, or causing interference with wire, oral, electronic, or radio communications used to control the unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft” and “use reasonable force to disable, damage, or destroy the unmanned aircraft system or unmanned aircraft.”**

A paint factory went up in flames and exploded in Ezeiza, Buenos Aires Argentina. No fatalities as of now.

This must have been Argentina's largest explosion since the 1995 Río Tercero Explosion (very possible it was to cover up the smuggling of weapons to Ecuador and Croatia) and that time the Navy bombed civilians in Plaza de Mayo in 1955 because they thought Perón was woke

China's cooperation with Cuba in the energy sector remains strong and steady - Granma

Artcle

The First Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, attended the inauguration of the seventh photovoltaic solar park of the 120 MW project donated by the Chinese Party, Government, and people

Guanajay, Artemisa.– "China's cooperation with Cuba in the energy sector remains strong and steady, from ongoing projects, such as equipment and spare parts for distributed generation, the 5,000 photovoltaic systems for isolated homes, and the installation of other solar photovoltaic parks (PSFV) with a total capacity of 85 MW, to the next project to install another 200 MW and the new 5,000 photovoltaic systems for isolated homes."

This was stated by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the island, Hua Xin, during the inauguration in Guanajay, Artemisa, of the seventh 5 MW PSFV of the first stage of a donation from the Party, the Government, and the people of the sister country, which will add 120 MW to the National Electric System (SEN).

The official launch of Mártires de Barbados II was led by the First Secretary of the Party's Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and it is now connected to the SEN, as are its 5 MW counterparts built in several provinces, with a combined generation capacity of 35 MW.

Following the completion of this phase, the second stage, already underway, is expected to be completed by next April and will include 13 5 MW PSFV and two 10 MW PSFV, with a total power of 85 MW and batteries to store 20% of the generation produced. "Each of these steps," said the diplomat, "demonstrates China's commitment to Cuba's sustainable development. In the future," he confirmed, "our country is willing to continue strengthening this cooperation, thus contributing to the construction of the China-Cuba community with a shared future."

When describing the benefits of the seven new PSFV units, as the first stage of the donation, Hua Xin commented that they will save around 18,000 tons of imported fuel annually.

"From the signing of the project exchange of notes, the arrival of the first batch of equipment, to the full connection to the grid today, the efficient collaboration between Chinese and Cuban companies has achieved impressive speed, marking a new stage in the collaboration between the two countries in the field of clean energy," said the representative of the Asian giant.

"And the strategic significance of this project," he added, "is profound. At the social level, it will provide the population with a clean, stable, and reliable electricity supply, thus improving their well-being. At the economic level, the savings in foreign currency will boost Cuba's economic recovery. And at the environmental level, the annual reduction in carbon emissions will contribute to global climate governance."

Also participating in the inauguration of the PSFV Mártires de Barbados II were Gladys Martínez Verdecia, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Provincial Party Committee in Artemisa; Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, deputy prime minister and minister of Foreign Trade and Investment; and Gerardo Peñalver Portal, first deputy minister of Foreign Affairs, among other dignitaries.

On the Cuban side, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Déborah Rivas Saavedra conveyed "on behalf of the Cuban government, party, and people, the deepest and most sincere gratitude to the government of the People's Republic of China, the China International Development Cooperation Agency, and the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchange for their arduous efforts to execute this project in the shortest time possible."

She praised the Chinese authorities for giving the initiative "emergency treatment in order to support our country in the complex situation facing the National Electric System," as well as the technical collaboration between the Chinese and Cuban institutions that participated.

She recalled that the PSFV Mártires de Barbados II was built in record time after supplies arrived last July. Like the other six 5 MW plants, it will contribute an estimated 8,000 MWh, for a total of 56,000 MWh per year, which will help reduce service disruptions during daytime hours and increase installed electricity generation capacity.

Highlighting the contribution of this donation to the transformation of the national energy matrix by increasing the use of renewable and clean energies, the Deputy Minister of Mincex emphasized its environmental impact, which "will be significant, as a total of 49,280 tons of carbon dioxide will no longer be emitted into the atmosphere." In addition, it will contribute to the national effort to achieve energy sovereignty and independence.

Rivas Saavedra reported that, following the completion of the first 35 MW stage, with seven 5 MW PSFV units, rapid progress is being made on the second phase of the project, involving a further 85 MW.

He argued that to this end, "the first supplies have arrived in the country and the rest will be received before the end of this year, which will allow for its construction and commissioning in the first quarter of 2026."

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment reiterated her gratitude "for the systematic gestures of support from the People's Republic of China to Cuba at this complex time we are facing, in particular the cooperation in the energy sector."

She also thanked "the Chinese government for its prompt response in offering its solidarity and assistance in recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa, with donations of food, galvanized steel coils for the production of roofing for homes, mattresses, solar lights, among other items, which will benefit those affected in the eastern provinces."

"All these signs of cooperation from the Chinese government," he said, "confirm the special nature of our ties and are a practical expression of the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Cuba."
