I have no sympathy for our oppressors.

Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934-35 by unit 886. Part of the New Deal, the men and women who made this worked over 40 hours a week, and took home $30 a month. Most of them apparently sent it back home as this was all on the tail end of the Great Depression.

It's pretty neat. The place is built from 'caliche-crete', which was a blend of concrete and the local caliche stone.

Pretty interesting, thinking about the people who built this, looking at the individual blocks and thinking about the toil in the hot Texas sun to build this place.

Out at a place built by the Civilian Conservation Corps back in 1935/36. Found this while walking around. I think this was used for surveying changes to the land around where I am, as this area was dammed in the 1930s.

I've been searching for something specific to these but I think due to their age it might be lost to time.

Hey my once daily inhaler I use every day of the week was only $326.60 this month. Neato.

Three hundred and twenty six dollars every fucking month. And sixty fucking cents. WITH INSURANCE. It's six hundred fucking dollars without insurance!

Healthcare is a fuck.

Saint Luigi protect us.

I've possibly mentioned it here a time or two before, I hav moderate emphysema, and moderate asthma. As such I am in the elevated risk group so I get vaccinated when needed.

Yesterday was a couple of vaccinations, pneumonia, flu, COVID booster and second round of hep A/B vaccine (occupational exposure hazard of plumbing).

This morning I was handing over my doctors excuse. Typically I don't give information when I visit a doctor- here's my excuse go fuck yourself please. For some reason I told the office manager why I went - vaccinations, blood work, and a referral for my twice yearly endoscopy.

You'd have though I told her I kick puppies and steal old folks disability checks, the fucking look she gave me.

She started out with this 'have you done your research...' bullshit, so I asked her why her medical degrees weren't hanging up if she knew better than medical professionals and left for my first service call. Then, I got to listen to my 17 year old apprentice (the owners dipshit son) explain to me how I really need to do some research and I'd probably change my opinion because I'm smart and I just need to be shown the right info, and that the other guys at the shop agreed about vaccinations. He then tried explaining to me that his grandpa who died last year of complications from esophageal cancer was really complications from the covid booster two years later.

Told him I'm dropping him with his daddy because we can't justify the labor for an apprentice and a plumber for the service calls I had lined up today.

Ain't fucking doing it anymore. I'm sixteen hours into overtime already and I'm paid double time so I'm not fucking this week up. I will finish my week at one shop and I will have another job by Friday this week if worse comes to it.

I'm not arguing with assholes anymore in the year of our lord twenty twenty five.

How was y'all's day?

Decided to go glamping of a sort this weekend. loaded up the back of my truck with shit i never take like a ginormous rotomolded cooler, and a mountainbike, and a cot and tent instead of my hammock and tarp. I even brought my fucking ipad to watch movies from. I brought aUSB powered fan to use in my tent. How bougie am i now? I even have 50 Amperes of 120vAC on tap approx 25' away if i choose to use them.

After dinner i went for a walk on a fishin pier. Ran across almost a dozen of these snakes and maybe five red eared sliders. Im fairly sure the snakes are Diamondback Watersnakes, but im not a snake guy so im going off of sesrching moreso than my own knowledge of snakes. This was the only photo i got of the two species in close proximity together. The lake i am at has Texas Rat Snake, Cottonmouth, Copperhead, Diamondback Watersnake, and maybe a half dozen rattlers of some sort but I'm fairly sure I'm right about the ID here.

The lake has these aluminum things someone welded and they dropped in to provide a habitst for panfish and larger to have somewhere to go. The lake is so low that what is typically 12+ feet below the surface has become a perch for surface life.

Anyway thanks for coming to mutual of omaha's wild kingdom

attempting to strong arm a country that imports nothing you have on tap, exports to you nearly everything you consume, and is sitting on stocks of raw materials that every country the world over is attempting to secure.

lol. lmao even.

The last couple weeks have been a whirlwind. I spent a few days being treated for stress at a local mental hospital. It consisted of mostly processed foods, and moderate doses of Ativan.

After three days of this, I was discharged as fully recovered. I cleaned out my locker at work, turned in my truck keys and went home. I’ve been going to an appointment a day, with mixed results. I am flat broke but my bills are paid thru the end of January. I lost my employer provided health insurance but was able to sign up for something thru ACA since it was open enrollment so at least I have non-employer tied health insurance so that’s cool. I have new work beginning soon.

The counselor I’ve been seeing put me on a low dose of Lexapro (they also wanted me on a an “as needed” dose of Xanax, but I have substance abuse issues so I’m not filling that one).

I’m not better yet, but I’m really trying to get there. I think I have a path in front of me. It’s time to follow it. My doctors think I need to lay off social media, but seeing as this den of iniquity is the only social media I’m on, I reckon I’ll be cutting back a fair amount but not leaving entirely.

If I have interacted with someone here negatively, I am truly sorry. I’m just beginning to sort myself out so I don’t know what to say beyond I am sorry. I’m not that person, and I’m trying to get more distance between me and that person. Please accept my apology and know I’m making an effort to sort myself the fuck out.

I’m cutting back on the processed garbage I feed myself. I’m working out. I’m seeing a counselor. I can’t say I quit social media as I occasionally post here still.. I’m making a conscious effort to curtail/end the mind altering substances I consume. Onward and upward, hopefully.

Anyway here’s Wonderwall, or whatever.

I mean where’s the lie?

White Tail Deer (hexbear.net)

Doe. A deer. A female deer.

White tail deer, maybe five years old. It’s called a White tail because when lifted up, the underside of the tail is completely white.

Went stomping around the bushes looking for a campsite near a lake and I found her and two companions munching grass near a road. The other two were skittish and bolted before I could get my phone pointed but this one let me get within 6-8 foot before walking into the brush slowly.

This isn’t universal. I work with some downright chuds, and they will say good morning to me. South texas, land of the manly man.
