The Canadian regime continues to violate human rights in the country. The Liberal junta which has held onto power for a supermajority of the country's existence has been denounced by international observers as constituting a one party state.
The unelected "Labour Control Board" has declared the striking of Flight Attendants illegal and seeks to force them back into unpaid indentured servitude. The union representing flight attendants has announced they will defy this order. It remains to be seen if the Canadian Secret Police will respond with the same violence seen in previous protests against illegal oil pipelines.

Anyone have any thoughts on ONA or related groups like 764 and terrorgram? They feel very parapolitical to me in a strategy of tension kind of way. They've been linked to multiple terror attacks across Europe and the Americas, oftentimes carried out by people as young as 14. Right wing accelerationism seems to be on an upswing since COVID.

Canada announces retaliatory tariffs against the USA. Initial tariffs will be 25% of $30 billion as of Tuesday, followed by 25% of $125 billion in three weeks
Part of me thinks these tariffs from the US will remain until the next election and the Cons are elected. Trump will then drop the tariffs and the Cons can take it as a victory and claim they saved Canada
Just remember in any war of US imperialism the bourgeoisie of the invaded country suffers the least. The people who will suffer the most are the indigenous people of Canada and Greenland who will have their treaties annulled along with the poor and working class who rely on the basic social services Canada offers that the US does not.
Canada as a state sucks and the people in charge would deserve it, but they will not suffer, everyone else will.

. My card isn't even old, it's just 8GB of VRAM is the absolute minimum apparently so my mobile 3060 is now useless. I miss when I used to be able to play new games in 2014 on my shitty AMD card at 20fps, yeah it didn't look great but developers still included a very low graphics option for people like me. Now you need to be upgrading every 2 years to keep up.

All the talk about TIFF cancelling the documentary about Russian soldiers is breaking my brain. It's not enough that the documentary is already pro Ukraine by showing the Russian soldiers become disillusioned with the war, anything that shows Russians as human beings cannot be allowed in Western media. Knowing 
they would gladly show a documentary humanizing Nazis but Russians are a bridge too far

The movie is written by Nick Pinkerton, who I've never heard of before but is apparently associated with the Red Scare Pod in some way. The movie is a mumblecore surrealist comedy loosely based on Alice in Wonderland, where the main character travels through different parts of the United States and meets different characters. It's got some funny parts and it held together well enough in the beginning but it starts to drag by the second vignette and really starts to broadcast where it leans politically.
The main character essentially acts listlessly throughout the entire movie and calls things and people ableist slurs. While other characters are supposed to...I guess represent different political positions in the US? I don't really know what the point was meant to be, but the vibe is "caring about things is dumb". There's four main vignettes which boil down to the following:

A group of anarchists that never actually profess any political beliefs besides not working and eating food from the garbage. The main anarchist character is immediately shown to b a sex pest and the group then goes out to a field to fight Nazis that aren't there. (This is the only representation of the political left in the movie)
An academic Nazi who takes in our main character and lets her live in his house. He is given ample time to espouse his ideas and does not attempt to sleep with the main character which is shown to be a big deal. She lives with him as a tradwife for some time, and is like happy with it I think? But eventually runs away
Two New York film makers who are making a period piece. Sorry I really don't know what this one was trying to say it just felt random, but the film shoot ends when Nazis shoot everyone.
An Arabic guy who saves the main character from the shooting, but oh no! It turns out he's locking her away to be his wife and also he lives in a terrorist training camp.
And then finally the writer of the movie shows up as a Catholic monk to save the main character and talk about miracles for some reason.
Maybe I don't get it because I don't really vibe with this kind of art. But genuinely this movie was pretty boring and it feels gross when you know the politics behind it. I will give them credit though, I was anticipating a TERFy joke the entire movie and I didn't catch one.
The Toronto police have charged a man with a hate crime after he waved a PFLP flag at a protest this is pretty unprecedented and blatantly biased considering how often you see chuds flying Confederate flags in rural areas of the country with no one stopping them

In Canada the only party showing any support for Palestinians is the NDP, which is sad because they're the most milquetoast socdems I've ever seen and their support is similarly weak. But when one representative goes a little bit farther and actually calls for ending the occupation of Palestine, the party leadership forces her to apologize and the government of Ontario is trying to prevent the MPP from being recognized as a sitting representative. Literally exposing how meaningless our conceptions of liberal democracy are when the people who voted for this representative are being told they can't actually vote for those ideas because it's out of step with the western party line
All it took is one day of illegal strike action to get this. More unions should take note.
