Vyvance has been a gave changer for me. I'm more calm and less prone to tipping into a rage over little things. I've had success getting it through Caremark if you have that available to you. It really helped me with reading and task switching.

One reason to do something like this would be if you were planning to disrupt the international supply chain by perhaps putting tariffs on China, keeping local unions happy to the point where they would not jump on a chance to strike during a supply chain disruption would be an effective way to minimize the adverse effects of tariffs and wars for that matter.

You could also just read this as an appeal to union members who voted for Trump to keep them a part of the Republican coalition.

The API has an endpoint for marking posts as read. It would be a matter of adding a button to the interface to mark the post as read.

I'm sure if an issue was opened on the Lemmy UI side it could be implemented by someone.

Chapter 2 of Capitalist Realism:

A film like Wall-E exemplifies what Robert Pfaller has called ‘interpassivity’: the film performs our anti-capitalism for us, allowing us to continue to consume with impunity. The role of capitalist ideology is not to make an explicit case for something in the way that propaganda does, but to conceal the fact that the operations of capital do not depend on any sort of subjectively assumed belief. It is impossible to conceive of fascism or Stalinism without propaganda – but capitalism can proceed perfectly well, in some ways better, without anyone making a case for it.

When you are in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney watching the Stormtroopers march past, you might also witness cast members performing acts of anti-fascist behavior. You might even be encouraged to join in. This gives your expensive trip an air of anti-fascist ideology while also signaling to you that the systems which bring you this display must also be anti-fascist as well. Stalin surly wouldn't have tolerated anti-socialist activity after all, and that's what sets our system apart from theirs. Capitalism invites you to be anti-capitalist, that's how you know it's a superior system.

No, its decidedly anti-fascist, however it fills the role of anti-fascist roleplay. It allows the consumer to participate in a kind of anti-fascist display and then defuse any true anti-fascist sentiment they might be harboring.

During WWII, America shocked the world when they revealed their nuclear capacity by dropping not one, but two atomic bombs on strictly civilian targets. Since then, they have maintained a first strike policy, meaning, their plans for their nuclear arsenal are not defensive, but aggressive and the highest form of escalation.

During the Korean War, Dugless MacArthur asked the joint chiefs of staff for approval to use nuclear weapons on China, to the tune of 30, to 50 nuclear strikes. They approved. MacArthur's goal was to create a radioactive no-mans land across Russia and China to act as a buffer zone between after the war was "won".

During the JFK Administration, they drew up plans for nuclear first strike against the Soviet Union if conflict in Berlin turned violent.

The Nixon administration drew up plans to drop nuclear bombs on North Vietnam.

Just this week, news broke that the Biden administration is considering giving Ukraine nukes. "Several officials even suggested that Mr. Biden could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union." You'll tell me this is strictly defensive, then I beg you to consider reading why the Soviet Union was giving Cuba nuclear weapons during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The only place threatening a Nuclear Holocaust is the United States. They remain today the only country on earth to have dropped not one, but two atomic bombs on war targets (read civilian populations).

How many independent conflicts intersecting with various allied factions need to exist before it constitutes a World War, I wonder.

Thank you for this work! I can't stand the medias desire to not name and shame when it comes to this kind of news. I'm happy to see none of my representatives are on this list.

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act in a 219-184 vote largely along party lines, with 15 Democrats joining the Republican majority.

Republicans were quick to highlight what they described as flip-flopping by Democrats who previously supported the bill, chalking the change up to “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Despite a majority of Democrats coming out against it in last week’s vote, the bill still received the support of 52 Democrats on November 12. On Thursday, that number dwindled to 15, as Democrats flipped in opposition, including Reps. Angie Craig, D-Minn., and Gabe Vasquez, D-N.M., both of whom cited Trump’s increasingly unhinged cabinet selections in their statements prior to the vote.

“I strongly oppose any actions that support foreign terrorist organizations,” Craig said Wednesday on X. “However, over the past several days as the president-elect has rolled out his cabinet nominees, I’ve become increasingly concerned that H.R. 9495 would be used inappropriately by the incoming Administration.”

I'm passing this question along, because I think we might have folks here who have some suggestions.

What tools or combination of tools are folks using to organize in your local area and beyond?

A relative of mine was asking me about software to replace the event/RSVP/page aspects of Facebook.

It almost sounds like he wants a locked down Lemmy instance or a combination of tools, but I'm not sure what the landscape is like out there.

Any input would be cool. I might link him to this post later if I get enough comments.

There's a lot more, just a selection, also a lot of old form sig graphics and avatars, way to many WoW screen shots. A real flashback, most of this is from like 2007.

This is a device category I have very little knowledge about, but I have a growing collection of PDFs and ebooks and I'd love to have a light weight device to read them on.

Any recommendations? Are they all walled gardens?
