Tempted to agree. NATO has already committed all satellite, communication, ammunition, and equipment surpluses. It doesn't actually have much room for escalation without committing to a full on war with Russia.

Technically-- embassies are only protected from attack by their HOST country.

Russia could target the US, UK, French, and German embassies and state that they were military targets due to being staffed by military and intelligence staff. Those countries didn't condemn the attack against the Iranian consulate in Damascus, therefore Russia could argue, they are seemingly ok with having their embassies treated as military targets by a country they are military attacking with long range missiles.

Russia could call ahead and ensure the embassies are evacuated first.

Hey Hexbear.

Eco for Humans is running a playthrough of the game Eco between November 8th and December 6th (28 days). I'd like to invite Hexbear along since it seems like the kind of game people here may be into. The EfH community runs on a strict no TRASH policy (transphobes, racists, ableists, sexists, homophobes), making server moderation safe and compatible with Hexbear.

If you haven't heard of Eco, it's a society-building game about living on a little planet and marching through the industrial revolution to shoot down an incoming asteroid as it falls out of the sky over the course of 28 days. The little planet you're living on has a fully simulated ecosystem; species may go extinct or the sea levels may rise if care isn't taken to balance economic and ecological concerns. One aspect that makes this game unique is that players can only take a limited number of production specializations (baker, shipwright, chemist, miner, farmer, etc..) meaning that players must band together to trade, or form towns and countries with their own distinct laws and cultures.

I hope this is a minor face saving strike by the entity, and our Iranian, Syrian, and Lebanese comrades stay safe tonight.

UK has denied entry to Mandela's grandson the day before the start of his speaking tour through Scotland on apartheid in South Africa and Palestine.

From the satellite footage so far of the Israeli air bases, I'd say they got perhaps 2x F-35s destroyed, not 20. The Iranian missiles just aren't accurate enough to take on hardened hangers unless fired in higher volume. I'd wager it's still a cost effective way to knock out F-35s in a full war though.

It appears that if war kicked off and Iran did some full sends, they could actually do some real damage, and I'm guessing that was the message they wanted to send.

Countries are really starting to draw the lines when it comes to information control.

My sympathies if you're a lib who has been radicalized by the especially intense genocidal horror of this 2024 election cycle. For many people, 2016 and 2020 made it clear that hoping for a better world makes us stand apart from liberals. 2024 has made it clear that we are surrounded by fascists, who, when their mask slips, proudly display their fangs, still dripping viscera from ongoing slaughter.

It's nothing we didn't already fear to know in our heart of hearts.

In dark times, should the stars also go out?

I think it will be coming hard and fast.

If you don't move, you don't notice your chains. Being censored directly on reddit was extremely radicalizing for a lot of people here. Once you've noticed the chains, it's almost impossible to unsee them. Once you've had physical violence committed against you at a peaceful protest, you can't forget just how thin the veneer of civility is. They're creating an entire generation of people like us by actively censoring and over reacting. The illusion is shattered permanently for more people every day.

The general vibe of news and economics recently has me worried.

I always thought that my life would pass without a revolution in the "international community". Now I'm not so sure. If things keep getting worse for western sphere countries at the same rate, as now, and China rises at the same rate as now, intense violence could kick off within a couple of decades. Openly bloody and fascist reaction in the crumbling of the old order. I didn't expect the mask of "freedom and democracy" to drop as fast as it has, combined with the open acknowledgements that China is surpassing us.

Our century of humiliation will be us humiliating ourselves and I feel like it might be coming fast.

I honestly thought I might get through it all without living through the spicy times.

Operation Genocide Guardian is going to be the suez crisis moment of our time. There's no way it does anything but make the US look impotent and deplete munitions stocks further.

Excuse me for excusing Palestinians for being viscerally angry about what they are subjected to.

You don't get points for trying to be unrealistically civil with apartheid occupiers who think you're subhuman. The ones who literally cannot stand to be in your filthy presence without you being legally subject to their racial hierarchy will fuck off back to a country that coddles poor oppressed loser racists like some Rhodesian's did.

The rest will stay and become a real part of the land, rather than a vicious, poisonous tumour growing over and consuming it.

If the civilians are lucky, their captors are more humane than the average settler.
