TASS: Retaliatory strike on Kiev which Russia warned about could occur at any moment — Shoigu

"It can happen at any moment. And whenever we deem a response must be as powerful as we have repeatedly warned, we will retaliate for the terrorist attack that killed our very young people," he said in response to a TASS reporter's question about whether the refusal by European ambassadors to leave Kiev may affect Russia’s determination.

"We warned how hard we can strike, and we demonstrated that as well. We have all the means in place for it," Shoigu reiterated.

I have to wonder if the whole point of this extremely telegraphed and delayed attack is to get Western agents out of Kiev. And as Shoigu mentioned, they have already proven their seriousness and capabilities with the previous attack. The "real" one will presumably be even more intense.

Between this and Tom Alexandrovich, I am genuinely starting to think that Trump installed Sigal Chattah as DA for Nevada to give Israelis a law-free playground. What better place than Las Vegas?

TASS: Russian forces launching strikes on military-industrial complex sites in Kiev — MFA

"All of this has become the last straw," the ministry noted, referring to Kiev’s strikes against civilians on Russian territory following the attack on Starobelsk. "Under the current circumstances, the Russian Armed Forces are launching a series of systematic strikes against Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities in Kiev, including specific sites for the design, production, programming, and preparation for the use of drones employed by the Kiev regime with the assistance of NATO specialists responsible for supplying components, providing intelligence, and guidance," the statement noted.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that "strikes will also be directed at decision-making centers and command posts." "Given that these facilities are scattered throughout Kiev, we warn foreign citizens, including diplomatic mission and international organization representative office personnel, of the need to leave the city as soon as possible. We also warn Ukrainian capital residents not to approach Zelensky’s regime's military and administrative infrastructure facilities," the diplomats warned.

PS: There were indeed two Oreshniks launched during the last attack. One struck an airfield in Bila Tserkva, near Kiev. The other struck somewhere near the front line around Donetsk. Some say it malfunctioned and impacted Russian-held territory, but Rybar says it hit a target near Slavyansk/Kramatorsk. It's clear that Russia doesn't want to use this weapon on heavily populated areas.

The brunt of the pain being inflicted upon Russia itself, outside of the warzone, is from heavy kamikaze drones made with help from the EU, controlled through NATO satellites (including Starlink). The same thing that was used in the Starobelsk terror attack.

Also, Sergei Karaganov (think tank guy with connections to the Russian government) is starting to make waves with his proposed policy of striking NATO directly with conventional weapons to get them to stop helping Ukraine, and following up with a limited nuclear strike if they continue.

Putin is under pressure to respond to the Ukrainian terror attack on the Starobelsk college, and he has already hinted at the planning of a military response. Zelensky claims to have received a warning from Western intelligence about the possible use of another Oreshnik missile. There have been many such false alarms in the past, so I'll believe it when I see it.

However, if Oreshnik is used, the chosen target could be very interesting. Of the two missiles launched so far, the first struck an (allegedly disused) factory complex in Dnipro, eastern Ukraine. The second hit an aircraft repair plant in Lviv, far-western Ukraine, roughly 500km away from the first target, and very close to the NATO border.

If Oreshnik is a tool for escalation, and I believe it is, then the next target will have to up the ante. Either decision-making centers in Kiev (which was probably the prepared response to attacks on the Victory Day parade), or NATO territory itself (because these drone attacks have been supported by their satellites).

NYT: Early War Goal Was to Install Hard Line Former President as Iran’s Leader

It turns out that the United States and Israel went into the conflict with a particular and very surprising someone in mind: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the former Iranian president known for his hard-line, anti-Israel and anti-American views.

But the audacious plan, developed by the Israelis and which Mr. Ahmadinejad had been consulted about, quickly went awry, according to the U.S. officials who were briefed on it.

Mr. Ahmadinejad was injured on the war’s first day by an Israeli strike at his home in Tehran that had been designed to free him from house arrest, the American officials and an associate of Mr. Ahmadinejad said. He survived the strike, they said, but after the near miss he became disillusioned with the regime change plan.

pooh-wtf

Are they just trying to get Iran to kill him for them or something?

Even if they come right out and say "it was the CIA", I don't think anything would really happen. It would be like the reveal of COINTELPRO.

spoilerIn the In Water ending, there is a close-up of James looking defeated, starting the car, and gripping the steering wheel just before it fades to black.

In the Stillness ending, the last thing he does on camera is take a thoughtful look at Mary's letter (the one that tells him to move on with his life). He starts the car off-camera.

There's already a theory based on the audio in the Stillness ending that he gets out of the car and lets it drive itself into the lake with Mary's body. I feel like this difference in camera shots makes it a lot more obvious.

Military detects over 90 balloons presumed to be sent from N. Korea across border

The balloons that have fallen so far did not carry leaflets but trash and other waste, the source said, with the military and police currently collecting the fallen balloons.

On Sunday, North Korea said it will scatter "mounds of wastepaper and filth" over the border areas in a "tit-for-tat action" against the distribution of anti-Pyongyang leaflets.
