It had some pretty funny moments, and the universe being trapped in an ever expanding warehouse is pretty Futurama, but I was pretty disheartened when I saw the name of the episode and when I saw it was just about Amazon. I hope not all of them are current event things.
The issue is the revolution is not an instant snap to full communism. There will need to be structures in place to prevent the slipping back into capitalism, and the undermining of the new proletarian state by internal and external forces. This means things like police, military, and government, but fundamentally different as the structure of the society they serve will not be designed to protect the wealthy. The transition from revolution to full stateless, classless, moneyless communism will take an unknown amount of time.
Shooting out of a cannon with the wings hat and flying around in Mario 64 was such a pure fun experience for my kid brain. The switch in music and just soaring around a 3d level was really something special at the time.
Because of the unfortunate centralisation that's happened, with so many people being directed to lemmy.world or choosing to go there, a big DDoS attack on world would disrupt a lot of communities that people on other instances use. It's in everyone's interests to spread the load more, which is why I find it sad when some communities migrate to world. UnixPorn was one, although it was already on lemmy.ml which is a larger instance too
Maybe Oblivion will be the new Skyrim and re-release for the next five or six years until Elder Scrolls 6. I've seen a worrying amount of revisionism on Lemmy about how Oblivion is actually the best of the games, which is wrong. Morrowind is by far the best and deserves, but also does not require, a remake.
I think a really cool and not going to happen thing would be for a new DLC for these older games, alongside official patches to make them work on modern rigs for new players.
I disagree, it just leads to spam and people blocking the bots, and therefore the communities. I think things will grow organically at whatever speed. People have to realise this isn't Reddit, and likely won't ever be as big, and that it's good that it won't be.
More centralisation onto the instance that has been affected most by server overload and hacks? Very sad :( There are other instances
Good game, but this is a board games community.
Hmm that's not promising news for me. I've found Futurama works best when it's handling things not directly related to current events. I've been concerned about this season in general since I heard about it, more so after seeing the trailer, and even more so now.
I wouldn't say this is world news. It's barely even US national news tbh. It would be very appropriate in the midwest.social instance though if you haven't put it there.
I hope to see less song lyric comment chains on completely unrelated posts. Also I don't know why, but I always hated the whole, 'my partner, let's call them blank (not real name)' thing.
An obvious choice for me is The Hobbit. It hits a completely different and more adventurous feeling to LoTR, while still hinting at the lore that would follow. Sometimes I think I might prefer to LoTR in general tbh.
