It's still Sunday somewhere. I'm on it.

Electric motors have high torque at low RPM

For anyone scrolling by and curious about this, this is caused by the combination of physical and electrical resistance. In a typical engine, RPM and torque go up together because it requires more force to get to those higher RPMs (IIRC this is called positive correlation). In a circuit, you have to kind of convince the electricity that it would be better off somewhere else (by connecting to a ground, this is due to electrical resistance), so you have to give it a heavy upfront load to get it going which causes a lot of torque due to the physical resistance

Finances are taught poorly everywhere tbf. I was lucky with my precalculus teacher being a huge finance nerd, she spent at least 3 separate full class sessions going over credit cards and loans completely unrelated to our content at the time

Yeah, I didn't have a phone until a few years after my peers because my mother knew damn well I'd go cause problems for the whole family if I was on the internet. Too social lol

I don't think anybody can dethrone Google Maps

I wonder how the whole "AI is more important than copyright" thing could play into this... Someone could totally program an "AI" map assistant right?

Yo, startpage looks sick. I'll have to poke around and see if I can find more info on that it looks super useful. My quick test just now was "cloture 2025" which returned 4 news articles followed by basically nothing but .gov links, whereas Google returns way more "news"

Yeah I think I'm headed in this direction. I've also been thinking about one of them self-hostable search engines a lot

People are giving great answers here. One I didn't notice at a glance is that the Fediverse is feckin small. Most of the world doesn't know it exists yet, and centralized social medias are probably not gonna be super big about pushing that info through their algorithms

Yeah, it's honestly mostly an issue of me dipping into programming and not properly sticking to it for long enough to wrap my mind around some concepts. I heard all the warnings that "learning to program is usually one of the hardest things someone has accomplished" because of how late we learn it and all the other complications. I also, however, have heard my whole life that I learned fast and picked things up easily. Boy oh boy was one of those messages more useful than the other lol

This is a solid use of AI.

Basically the equivalent of saying "Take a look at these characters and run it against a huge database to see if you find anything similar with documentation of its purpose"

For anything ~~that doesn't seem entirely obvious~~ I try...

I've come to teach myself that I have no idea what "entirely obvious" is.

This function is 3 lines long why am I boggled by it right now? I should have written a comment

I really enjoy rereading my past conversations, whether it's texts or comments here on Lemmy. I do it pretty much every day, and I just think about the different things that could have been said. I don't obsess over it, I basically treat it like another feed. When I get bored of Home and All, I go through my own profile.

Do you ever reread past conversations here or elsewhere? How often?

I think the color is similar enough to them that I look more sucklable than I did before I bought it. And I know people are gonna come in here and be all like "If your kitten suckles it means you took them from their mom too early" but their mom abandoned them in my neighbors yard so I don't exactly feel at fault for that lol

I believe these guys might be related to the kittens I've posted, which were rescued from the neighbors yard after 5 days of crying
