Its not an endorsement, is a criticism of those who consider themselves free thinkers but only follow the what they have been fed.

The fact that it can't be reversed (by having the media something correct) shows the bias that "free thinking" is only good when it follows our personal bias.

Ironic how it's flying over so many heads

Replace communism with fascism in the meme and sudden suddenly seems stupid.

Free thinking doesn't mean opposing common views by default, it means you reached your views (common and uncommon) by your own

I am moving from Docker to rootless podman and one thing that's surprising to me is that podman can create files that my user is, seemingly, not allowed to even read, so I need root to backup them.

For example, this one created by the postgres service of immich:

-rw-------. 1 525286 525286 1.6K Oct 2 20:16 /var/home/railcar/immich/postgres/pg_stat_tmp/global.stat

Is this expected in general (not for immich in particular)? Is there a single solution to solve this of does it have to be built in the images? It really feels wrong that I can start a container that will create files I am not allowed to even read.

For all I care, the year of the Linux desktop was years ago. People can keep moving the goalpost, I'll be enjoying my PC as the Flying Spaghetti Monster intended

Laugh all you want, but the week after I recycled the mini USB cable I had never used we were gifted a baby monitor that, of fucking course, needed a mini USB.

Either you have a kink for Computer Numerical Control machines or I'm misunderstanding the acronym.

Don't think can happen, but governments can enforce OpenDocument usage. If enforced for companies interacting with the government, they might just fully switch rather than use the two, with cascading effects.

So, in order to subscribe to those communities I should create another account in a different instance that either has them or is federated with them, right….? Any workaround for that? This sounds like it’s going to be a real chore to follow and will push a lot of people out of lemmy in general
