An unfortunate product of our consumer society :/ nobody knows shit about the crap they use every day any more! I remember when owning a car meant learning to do spark plugs and oil changes, now most people couldn't hang their spare on the side of the road if their life depended on it nevermind be bothered to figure out what hardware is in their porn browsing device.

U can still force an install on older hardware, I did it on my old Lenovo laptop and have t had an issue! Just takes a command to make it install despite "not officially being supported"

It's basically the same. Lemmy is kind of what reddit felt like before it got huge and astroturfed, it's smaller which can be as much a benefit as a detriment depending what your after. I find interaction here tends to feel more human than reddit, on reddit comment threads especially in political subreddits you already know what the comments are gonna say before you get there, here i feel as though there is a bit more genuine thought. That being said Lemmy is not immune to echo chambers or trolls, as any bit of the internet is. Just use as you would use reddit honestly and just know your likely not to see as much content, but the content you see will get a more GENUINE feeling interaction. That's my take anyhow.

This is the sort of adoption we need to bring Linux into the mainstream

Not sure why your getting down voted for stating a fact. Neither Republicans nor Democrats give a rats ass about us, we are ants in their empire. Nothing but a means to stuff their coffers. Every passing year the rich get richer, the middle class continues to evaporate, and more and more people enter poverty. The wedge only gets driven deeper, it has never lifted in the last 20+ years. We're fucked.

Since when did Republicans give a rats ass about science?

Hasn't happened to the right person yet. Fighting back via 2nd amendment is suicide. The government will hang you. But if you have nothing to loose might as well let them pry a hot AR out of your cold dead hands right?

Let me save you the trip. I have an old trash spec hp all in one that's had the bag beat out of it, what is the best lightweight Linux distro to make this a usable web browsing and PDF file viewer? (To be used in my garage to look at FSM, wiring diagrams, play music, Google crap etc nothing demanding). I've tried mint and it works ok but thinking lighter weight ?

I think it's about time for an organized mass murder of all healthcare ceos.... Maybe then they'll learn? Or do we need to go after the shareholders too? What will it take? How can we make them quiver in their boots half as much as they fucked us out of paychecks only to tell us to get bent when we request the care we've paid for?
