Just got a random message from a new account I suspect of being a bot or scammer.

But lemmy is still small enough, and has mods/admins that are less jaded and defeated than the bigger platforms, that there is a bigger pushback on the scams.

Every site has a critical mass at which scammers will be more motivated than the moderators. Reddit got too big, then shit all over the experienced mods. Double whammy.

Nintendo patents video game inventory system.

Not the onion.

(Not a patent lawyer, and I'm sure it's more complicated than that, but come on)

Trademark is generally industry specific, so you are probably technically correct. That may not be enough.

You can bet every Tupperware lawyer would be opposing that mark. You better have lots of money to spend years in court. Even when you're in the right, you can still lose.

You can have any brew you want … as long as it's a Romulan ale.

I worked at an animal feed plant once upon a time. It was all people-food grade ingredients, but the factory and equipment were not exactly maintained at the level you'd like to hope for your normal packaged food.

That said, I'm pretty sure everyone there had this place on their "shit hits the fan" list as a way to pick up months worth of calories in an emergency.

Rice is great if you're really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.

The product is supposedly 72" long. It looks like if he stretched his legs out straight, his feet would match up with the bottom of the mat pretty evenly, but the top would still barely come to his shoulders.

Either that dude's 7 feet tall, or the product measurements are a lie. I thought it was a common tactic among companies to show their "big" products being used by particularly short people to make them look larger than they are. Marketing fail.

The idea is that it gives moderate republicans a path to voting for her.

Without the endorsements, they would feel like they're betraying their principles and their party to vote D. With them, they can make a choice: Lots of rank and file voters will stick with Trump, but if a few party leaders, recently respected within the party, can vote for Harris, maybe that isn't such a betrayal after all.

Will it change the vote by 5-10%? Basically zero chance of that. But if it swings a few thousand voters in some strategic areas, it can make a difference. It's not a strategy aimed at very many people, but those votes on the margins matter.

Just because a 3060ti is technically capable of ray tracing doesn't mean I want you to keep turning it on every time the driver gets an update.

"Don't make a wrong move," the officer said as he pinned the struggling subject to the ground. "Period."

The officer tightened the handcuffs around the subject's thin wrists.

"Ow, ow, ow, it really hurts," the subject exclaimed.

The officer pressed his weight into the subject's small body while school staff watched it all unfold. The person he was restraining was 7 years old.

LMAO. The only time I visit Reddit any more is when it dominates the first page of search results. Spez has failed upwards for so long, he thinks he can fly.

A person's music taste seems to crystalize at some point in their teenage years. The bands you loved at 15-17 are probably the bands that you'll love forever.

Likewise, I'm finding that my relationship with information services as a whole probably crystalized a while ago, and the new era of "apps for every individual thing" is just wholly unappealing. Give me a web browser to interface with your information. If I can't get it done with that, I'm more likely to move on to some even older tech and skip your product altogether.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm late to bingo. And get off my lawn.

Me: "seems to" "at some point" "probably" while making a minor, secondary point. Others: Severely Triggered
