Honestly, I don't see a problem with this.

Some people are just really shit with emotions. Me included. I just got no clue what to say in certain situations. I know that what they do is not an issue, but I just don't know how to tell them properly.

Using AI for this is a fair use-case - you want the person to not feel bad, and if AI can give you a better response than you yourself could, why not.

It's not that easy to calculate as "munitions" can be anything from artillery shells to ballistic missiles.

If we assume it's mostly/all artillery shells, it's roughly one month of production. Russia currently produces 250.000 units of artillery shells per month if everything goes right. Russia uses roughly 10.000 of them per day, so it would be almost one months worth of combat.

If the stockpile contained more of glide bombs and ballistic missiles, the damage is even worse because they are significantly more expensive to produce.

Linux does give every application time to shut down correctly, but unlike windows, it won't wait for ages until every process is down. Linux WILL shut down in a certain timeframe, whereas windows waits for years if necessary. In my old job, we all had to use windows and I had times where I clicked shut down, turned off my monitor, grabbed my stuff, left and in the next morning, the PC was still on because Notepad refused to just close lmao.

I mean, the source code looks a lot cleaner than WordPress, which is an incredibly sad statement.

Kill WordPress now.

People take offense to the "unskilled" part, and it's just a stupid nitpick. Unskilled doesn't mean that it's an unimportant doofus jobs, it means it's a job that almost anyone can do. That doesn't make it unimportant.

Everyone can help haul stuff at a construction site. Everyone can collect garbage bags around the city. Everyone can deliver mail and packages. These jobs require no special education, you can literally get hired and start tomorrow without any training. But that does not make the job unimportant.

This post just feels like the person looks for another wording to be mad about.

Simple reason - dependencies.

Modern devs dump any dependency and sub-dependency under the sun into their project and don't bother about optimizing it. That's how you end up with absurdly large applications. Especially electron is a problem in this regard.

You can still write optimized and small software. However, for most businesses, it's just not worth their time. Rather using an additional couple hundred megabytes of dependencies on the client system.

I feel like scientists should move towards open source solutions ... I feel like most scientists are smart enough to launch a mastodon server, but well.

That means nothing. Nintendo and Valve are not in direct competition.

It's only officially supported on google phones because sadly those are the only ones that are not modified to fuck which makes installing and supporting other OS'es way too much work.

Giving google money once for a device is not a problem from a privacy or security standpoint.

It's kinda funny to read through this thread ngl.

Everyone claiming: "OH WOW PRICES WILL BE LOWER" or "OH MAN DEVS WILL PROFIT SO MUCH MORE!!!!!"

You know who profits? Publishers. The ones already taking 80 - 90% of a games revenue. Devs don't see shit of that. And for indie devs that don't have a publisher, the 30% cut is a godsend considering that steam is handling everything in the distribution chain.

You guys are fighting for corpos that want to buy their 5th luxury yacht.
