The US is a hellhole with a billionaire class living above the law, sure, not arguing with that. I guess maybe I should have assumed US defaultism for this question.

But OP made a blanket statement about all laws, and didn't specify a country either. If your username is any indication you're a Marxist. How do you think a Marxist state would work without laws?

[-] PonyOfWar@pawb.social 17 points 6 days ago

That has certainly been the case in some places, though by no means all of them. Enforcement is also a separate issue to the law itself.

But to provide some maybe better examples, do laws that enshrine workers' rights to form a union only serve to benefit the rich? Laws that limit donations to political parties? I really don't think you can make that argument for all laws.

I guess I haven't yet. Maybe you can help me: How do laws against, for example, rape, only benefit the rich while oppressing the rest of us?

Even if that did happen, it wouldn't defeat the point of the disclosures at all. In fact, people will appreciate it all the more if a game is made without any AI involvement and it will become a selling point.

By doing this, they've also ironically managed to disprove their own point of supposedly only enforcing the rules. Bit of a shame, as the idea of the community seemed nice, but I thought the mod was really out of line there.

Oh well, you better believe I'll be back downvoting in 74 years!

I feel like the Linux Handhelds made by GPH in the 2000s are a nowadays almost forgotten piece of history, even though they were in some ways the predecessor to today's Steam Deck. So I wanted to create a bit of an appreciation post for this chapter in Linux Gaming history. Did any of you use a GP2X back in the day as well? For me, it wasn't just my introduction to Linux gaming, but also game development, as I programmed my first games for it using GLBasic. It was a fantastic machine for emulation as well, got introduced to many old games from the 80s and 90s through it.

No music, no images... two things that have defined Human culture for millennia. The Taliban must really love leading a miserable existence.

Smoking. Millions of euros of taxpayer money spent every year on those lung cancer patients which could be well spent elsewhere. It's also an activity that negatively affects not just the smoker but everyone around them.

I'm currently waiting for all the components for my PC upgrade to arrive. Got the motherboard today and immediately upon opening, I noticed that the CMOS battery was not in its slot but just kind of next to it loose on top of the board. The slot seems fine, it seems to fit securely in there. No scratches on the board either. But now I'm a bit worried - could the battery have shorted something on the motherboard? It holds a charge after all. What do you think - should I return it for a new one untested or are the chances of the battery harming anything so miniscule that I should just go for it and use it in my build?

The wizard was called "Le Sorcier". Lovecraft wrote that story when he was 17, so I think we can cut him some slack that it wasn't a masterpiece.

That would explain why I didn't have any problems with Youtube and uBlock Origin.

Because religion provides comfort, community and a meaning to people's existence that goes beyond "we were born of chance on an insignificant rock somewhere in the universe".

(I'm not religious BTW)

Smart speakers with personal assistants like Amazon Echo etc. Not remotely useful enough to be worth placing spying Equipment all over my home.

Wireless headphones. So now I'm supposed to recharge my headphones and get worse sound quality for it? In a few years they become e-waste, while good wired headphones can last decades. No thanks.
