I am not looking forward to the day that medical implants and devices become subscription-based.
Missed too many monthly payments? Your pacemaker gets shut off until your account is no longer delinquent.

You beat me to it, just from a TV show.
But I bet Nancy in HR thinks it's satanic and is reacting as such.
We don't know about the longer term consequences yet, just like we didn't about lead.
Not saying it's a definite but I wouldn't be surprised.
"a pleasure to have in class, but needs to apply herself"
When you can't tap a button to fill the text dialogue, and have to wait for each letter to individually populate for 15 speech bubbles in a row.
This is why work from home is such a blessing. In an office I could never be able to fuck around as much as I do, but I was definitely less productive overall because I wouldn't do the hyperfocus periods because I was recently l resentful about being at the office.
You're lookin at it
Everyone should have to retake the driving test (both written and practical) every five years. And if you don't pass on the first try or are in a crash where you are found at fault, it should be bumped up to every year for the following five years.
People drive dangerously because they've forgotten rules, or rules have changed, or they've had a physical or cognitive decline. And yet we're like "yep, you took a test once decades ago, good to go."
Dangerous driving kills so many people.
I live in the US and honestly, I don't think anything will remain inexpensive. Even stuff that is produced domestically will go up in price because a) the value of the dollar will contine to decrease and b) if companies can get away with increasing prices while pointing to some external excuse, they will.
Because at the end of the day, they're all on Reddit. So when reddit says "you'll get banned for upvoting content that promotes violence [against the oligarchs]," you can't just make another subreddit because they'll shut that one down too.
If the admin of lemmy.world says "you'll get banned for upvoting content that promotes violence [against the oligarchs]," then you can say okay and make luigimangione@otherlemmyinstance.com. People on Lemmy.world can still access the new site, or even leave Lemmy.world entirely if they decide they're not down with the admin. But they can still access all of the other federated communities they were subscribed to rather than having to quit Lemmy overall.
Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake is a good example of "stop! stop! he's already dead!"
A diss track that calls you out as a pedophile is the most-awarded song in Grammys history, became a theme song of the DNC, was the hit of the Superbowl. And at said Superbowl, he twisted the knife by inviting Serena Williams, someone who you stalked, to dance as a lil fuck you.
I don't follow hip hop or much pop culture, and even I know this. I know there's way more instances of absolute murder that haven't bubbled up to people like me knowing. Time to wave the flag, Drake.
