Pierre's record speaks for itself, no need to muddy waters

https://pierresrecord.ca/

  • Received a government pension at 31, then raised the retirement age on hard-working Canadians
  • Defined marriage as a union between ‘one man and one woman, to the exclusion of all others’ (in front of his gay parent)
  • Visited and courted far-right extremist groups
  • Said Indigenous Peoples needed to learn the value of hard work more than they needed compensation for residential schools
  • Worked to bring American-style, anti-union laws to Canada
  • Said he’d use the notwithstanding clause, overriding Canadians’ rights
  • Committed to free votes, allowing his MPs to bring forward anti-abortion legislation

Timbit Trump has had a terrible history as MP, I don't want to see him as PM.

Three Conservative candidates have shared a document that they allege was circulated in prisons to sway inmates against the party. But the Correctional Service of Canada says it hasn't seen evidence that the paper was circulated, and noted that it's not an authentic government document.

The quality of the writing has "Nigerian millionaire prince email" energy

It's laughably bad.

Classic conservative projection. The US podcasters are probably doing multiple episodes on this.

It is most likely a false-flag, because the criticisms in the document all are clearly insane, and each question makes the actual Conservative policies appear saner in comparison.

I guess it's possible that it was a Liberal plant, but it has big "man vandalizes own house" energy.

sex offenders living next to kids in jail

I'm no expert in how to run a prison, but don't they have separate ones for kids? Or is it child prisoners in the cell next to other kids who are in for sex crimes? Whatever's going on it's probably another Liberal plot.

It's Complicated? It's possible that if a teen commits an offence heinous enough to be tried as an adult, they'd also be sent to an adult prison. There won't be under-twelves in a prison of any sort, since they can't be held criminally responsible for their actions under Canadian law. Teens guilty of sex crimes certainly do get thrown in with other teen criminals (and often aren't adequately monitored and reoffend while they're on the inside).

But in this case, I think whatever idiot posted the message meant "there might be kids in houses next door to the prison". Which begs the question: how many prisons and jails are actually in residential areas? I'd bet it's uncommon, but not unknown.

The only prison I know of that was in an urban setting was the old Kingston penitentiary. But it's been closed since 2013.

As far as under-18s being charged as an adult, that is rare and only used for extreme cases.

Collins Bay Institution is also in Kingston, not all that far from the old Kingdom Pen. It is within a 5-10 minute walk of many houses and apartments.

I stand corrected.

There's one by us that's maybe a 10 minute walk from my house. the prison can't be seen from residential areas, and vice versa so no big deal.

Edit: it's a correction center, which is probably different then a prison.
