I'm a loser and made my own. I ran out of q-tips, so it's not perfect, but damn close.

[-] ztwhixsemhwldvka@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago

Looks like a winner to me

[-] silverlightBeing@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That's impressive. Well done.

[-] w3dd1e@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah I read the post and didn’t take the intended lesson. I said “oh! I can make that!”

[-] KammicRelief@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Wow.. define loser? That's awesome!

Caffeine doesn't do much for me, in fact it often seems to make me sleepy

[-] Emperor@reddthat.com 21 points 1 year ago

you probably have adhd, source: literally me

[-] cynar@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

An atypical response to caffeine is one of the most consistent markers of ADHD I've seen in the wild. I've yet to meet someone who has it and didn't have some level of ADHD symptoms as well.

[-] untorquer@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Symptoms? Yes. Diagnosable? That's a different story...

[-] cynar@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

True. I tend to hang out with a lot of high functioning weirdos. We worked out that about half of us either were diagnosed with various neurodiversities, or reasonably could be. Several got diagnosed, after the caffeine point.

Unfortunately, high functioning ADHD diagnosis can be VERY hit and miss. My diagnosis was apparently fairly blatant. A friend, with very similar experiences and issues, got the opposite end of the deal. Since he could hold down a job, he obviously had no issues. A depressing chunk is down to the personal opinion of the assessor.

[-] untorquer@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Yep!!!! Hold down a job so you're fine! Not to mention the last time my house was clean was 7 years ago when i took a half dose of adderall...

[-] cynar@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

My house might be tidy... one day... I don't think it's been truly tidy in over a decade.

[-] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 12 points 1 year ago

If I drink A LOT of caffeine it will keep me awake, but in a groggy rapid heart beat kind of way.

[-] Schorsch@feddit.org 8 points 1 year ago

Caffeine doesn't do much for me, unless I have taken my Elvanse. Then it can be like I am too focused to actually focus on things.

[-] WillFord27@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Coffee is anxiety sleepy juice that provides an elevated heart rate

[-] ratofkryll@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Coffee = brain wants to nap, body is vibrating too hard to relax.

[-] ProfAel@feddit.org 6 points 1 year ago

I struggle with falling asleep and it gets worse with caffein. So I never drink a lot of it after 16:00

[-] AlDente@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 year ago

Yes, but that top layer isn't square. There's one more row towards the top left. Some Qs need to be removed or added to bring balance to the qube.

[-] lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago

Close enough

[-] Jarix@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago

I am considering doing this as soon as i so scrolling

[-] Akasazh@feddit.nl 4 points 1 year ago

Have you so scrolling yet?

[-] Jarix@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

How many ears³ can that clean?

[-] FiskFisk33@startrek.website 16 points 1 year ago

you know you are not supposed to put them in your ears, right?

[-] frezik@midwest.social 6 points 1 year ago

Inner ear is off limits. Can still be useful for the outer ear. For most people, cleaning the outer ear will let the inner ear take care of itself.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

You will compact your earwax and it will get steadily more and more blocked up. Don't ask me how I know this.

[-] frezik@midwest.social 8 points 1 year ago

Outer ear. Blockages aren't an issue for the outer ear.

With patience, something ADHDers have in a abundance for the weirdest thing at the wrong time

[-] h3mlocke@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

I think they used q-tips!

[-] Lemminary@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

Ok but how do you even begin assembling this thing?

[-] QualifiedKitten@discuss.online 19 points 1 year ago

This post inspired me to make my own. I started by laying 10 q-tips on the table, then another layer of 10 perpendicular, and kept going until I had 10 layers of each. In hind sight, I recommend doing 9x9, because the next step was to poke q-tips through the grid vertically, and that pushed the other layers around and some fell off. Once you have the 9x9x9 cube, you can fill in the edges to get 10x10x10. Note that the final cube will actually be a few short of exactly 10x10x10 due to the way the shapes hold together.

[-] h3mlocke@lemm.ee 16 points 1 year ago

Oh yeah, a "caffeine pill" eh?

[-] flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 year ago

In my case it would be took my Adderall so I could do coursework and then-

[-] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 14 points 1 year ago

HAHA! I was just trying to explain this to my wife. I was like

"Okay, yes, it DOES help you get stuff done but it's kinda like casting magic...You need the right intention and materials in front of you, or else it backfires and you end up focusing super hard on the first silly, likely useless thing that grabs your attention, and forget time is still moving..."
